Charles Spencer Chaplin nació en Londres, Inglaterra un 16 de Abril de 1889, fue un humorista, compositor, guionista, productor, actor, director y editor. Su popularidad en la industria del cine se debe a la gran cantidad de películas que realizó interpretando a "Charlot", su personaje, y para el final de la Primera Guerra Mundial ya era el personaje mas reconocido en la industria cinematográfica. Desde entonces es considerado el icono por excelencia del Humor y el Cine Mudo. Entre sus grandes éxitos se encuentran Ganándose el pan (1914) el cual fue el debut de su personaje "Charlot", ese mismo año participó en 38 cortometrajes, entre los cuales se encuentran Charlot en el baile, Charlot en el fuego y Todo por un paraguas. Otras de sus obras mas emblemáticas fueron Luces de la Ciudad (1931), La quimera de oro (1925), y El Gran Dictador (1940).

His popularity in the film industry is due to the large number of films he made playing "Charlot", his character, and by the end of World War I was already the most recognized character in the film industry. Since then he is considered the icon par excellence of Humor and Silent Cinema. Among his great successes are Winning the Bread (1914) which was the debut of his character "Charlot", that same year he participated in 38 short films, among which are Charlot in the dance, Charlot in the fire and All for an umbrella. Other of his most emblematic works were Lights of the city (1931), The gold chimera (1925), and The great dictator (1940).

Este tipo de ilustraciones siempre han sido de mis favoritas, cuando inicié mi proyecto del cómic encontré rápidamente mi propio estilo, progresivamente, conforme iba experimentando y desarrollando mi técnica empecé a retratar fotografías usando este tipo de ilustración, siempre fue bastante cómodo para mi. Hace un buen tiempo dejé de lado este proyecto y no seguí ilustrando con bolígrafos, hasta ahora, que tengo la firme intención de retomar y publicar mi propio Cómic, y como un primer paso decidí ilustrar al gran Charlie Chaplin, al cual le he dedicado un par de dibujos en el pasado.
Tras un boceto rápido empecé a rellenar el dibujo y a darle volumen y sombras, comenzando por el ojo, siempre me han dicho que esto está mal y que la mejor manera de comenzar a dibujar es desde la zona superior izquierda hasta la zona inferior derecha, para evitar manchas no deseadas en la superficie, sin embargo nunca he sido bueno para seguir las reglas. Las sombras del rostro están conformadas por lineas rectas entrelazadas las cuales van en diferente direcciones, entre mas lineas se dibujen, mas oscura será la sombra, no hay ninguna necesitad de presionar el bolígrafo fuertemente sobre la superficie para intentar oscurecer.
This type of illustrations have always been my favorite, when I started my comic project I quickly found my own style, progressively, as I was experimenting and developing my technique I began to portray photographs using this type of illustration, it was always quite comfortable for me. A while ago I left this project aside and did not keep illustrating with pens, until now, that I have the firm intention to resume and publish my own comic, and as a first step I decided to illustrate the great Charlie Chaplin, to whom I have dedicated a pair of drawings in the past.
After a quick sketch I began to fill in the drawing and give it volume and shadows, starting with the eye, I have always been told that this is wrong and that the best way to start drawing is from the upper left to the lower right, to Avoid unwanted spots on the surface, however I have never been good at following the rules. The shadows of the face are formed by straight lines interlaced which go in different directions, the more lines are drawn, the darker the shadow, there is no need to press the pen strongly on the surface to try to darken.
El área del bigote y el cabello fueron bastante tediosas de trabajar, si bien no son zonas muy grandes, la oscuridad era casi absoluta para hacer un buen contraste con la piel y lograr que se notara la diferencia. Para pintar los ojos tuve bastante cuidado, para no oscurecer mas de la cuenta.
The area of the mustache and the hair were quite tedious to work, although they are not very large areas, the darkness was almost absolute to make a good contrast with the skin and make it notice the difference. To paint the eyes I was careful enough not to overshadow the bill.
Cuando el rostro estuvo listo, me dediqué a pintar el sombrero y el traje, siempre manteniendo es estilo tipo Cómic de mis viejas ilustraciones, y para terminar apliqué el color de las iluminaciones, siempre azul y rojo por las zonas laterales, y en las zonas centrales apliqué un leve toque de color Tan para la piel.
When the face was ready, I dedicated myself to painting the hat and the suit, always maintaining the comic style of my old illustrations, and finally I applied the color of the illuminations, always blue and red in the lateral zones, and in the zones I applied a slight touch of color Tan for the skin.
