Kick ass street art spotted!

in #art3 years ago

I discovered these last night and while they were on the interior of a business (which was mostly an outdoor business) the paint work is permanently attached to a structure and is not moveable. So while it isn't in public I still consider something like this to be street art even though it isn't on the street.

I think most Batman fans would agree that Heath Ledger's run as the Joker is the best one that has ever existed. This is not the first one of these that I have seen but it is the first one that i have seen here. This piece is quite obviously done with brushes but I think that I admire this one more than others because since it was painted on corrugated steel (or whatever that stuff is called) the artist had to accommodate for the dips in the surface and still make it come out looking flat. This must have been considerably more difficult than it would be for someone to paint something like this on a flat surface.

Anyway, I found it impressive.

Even though it doesn't make much sense since these two characters were never in the same movie together you gotta appreciate the artistry. Harley Quinn and the Joker are in multiple films and series together but of course not in the one that the Heath Ledger Joker was in. If the alternative was to instead paint Jared Leto's Joker for the sake of continuity, I probably wouldn't appreciate this nearly as much because I did not like that portrayal of the character at all.

Anyway, same story here as far as the adaptations that the artist had to make to accommodate the uneven surface.

Both of these paintings and a few more can be found here at Section 30 pub. It's also a pretty fun place to hang out and get cheap drinks so that is just an added bonus!

Impressive portraits and with cheap booze, just perfect 😀

Yeah, not a bad day out huh?
