So what is happening in Denmark?

in #artlast year (edited)

I just thought it might be interesting for all of you to hear a bit of news from Denmark.

Election

First of all the election yesterday ended with a very slim victory to the socialist/liberal block. That means the Social Democratic prime minister, Mette Frederiksen in all probability will continue. New thing is that after 20 years of division and thunderous rhetoric, everybody now seem to prefer centrism and calm.

Climate change and saving the welfare system in face of all the things that happen in the world was on top of the topic's list, and Denmark will in all probability carry on as usual.

The book of Ifeanyi "Nevies" Eluu just showed up in the Danish Library Database. It is still in new titles so more info will be added.

Elisabeth died

Rock-punk-pop singer Elisabeth G. Nielsen died. I really liked her when I was younger. She only became 65 years old. Here's two songs that I like. THe last one has her on chorus, the first one is her singing.

Sort:

Lovely music! So young. I wonder what happened to her. I tried to find out, but all articles about her are in Danish.

Congrats again on the book.

It was some fast and wicked form of cancer - at first no one knew, but her daughters made a short note for the press a couple of days after her death.

Fino fino :)

There is a lot to be said for non-extremist politics. I would happily have less drama in UK politics, but we are stuck with the Tories for a while at least.

I don't think I've heard Elisabeth G. Nielsen before, but I enjoyed the music.

Stay well and good luck with the book.

We were early starters and both Swedes and Germans called us racist - now they do exactly the same, so maybe it is simply a matter of time that has to pass... We've had our versions of Farage, Truss and Boris.

Danish music is often only known in Scandinavia, but I'm glad you like it.
