Inferno

New work is out, this one is called Inferno. Picked up where we left of with The Remedy. It just kept going down.. but all good now? I think there is just one more work in this series after this one, but before that I have some other projects to finish. Some are kind of related, as I broke some of my own rules for making these works and it lead to a discovery and then a new line of works. But before that, this is

Inferno is the third installment in a series of digital artworks, where I have been working with the concept of color experience originating in my paintings on the traditional art side.

Visually this series is an exploration of an abstract, cyberpunk inspired aesthetic, influenced by glitch- and generative art – though here all the work is made by hand in MS Paint by drawing and transforming the output and repeating the process. I like to work with Paint because of its very basic interface that in my opinion allows to approach the essential of digital expression.

Like the first works in the series (The Fever and The Remedy), Inferno also deals with observations of the movements of the cryptomarkets or rather the atmosphere or mood of the space. During the making of this one, the red indicator candles seemed to be burning with an intense flame as the value of cryptocurrencies were melting fast. That is a sight nobody wants to see, that is where hopes and dreams get destroyed. Which is where the idea for this work comes from. Comparing the downtrend with a religious concept of hell may seem strong, but there also seems to be an element of almost religious fervor in the space. Making art is an opportunity for private contemplation, i hope that it offers that for the viewer as well. The trends seem to have been changing as this work is nearing completion, so who knows where we end up next. A question to the end;

What is your pleasure?
