Exploring the Bangkok River Canal !!

When ever i am in Bangkok i always like to take a ride along the Bangkok canal in Thai it's known as the Khlong Saen Saep Canal it avoids all the hustle and bustle of the city traffic traveling along this canal by taxi boats and cheap as , you can get on and off anywhere you like on this 45 mile stretch of canal that joins the West of Bangkok to the East of Bangkok.

Traveling along this canal by boat will give you front views to the modern town the old town of Bangkok plus you will get to see many temples and markets and you wish to get of to visit the temples or the markets you can do so and it's comfortable interesting walk along the canal concrete walkways on either sides crossing many ornate bridges.

The canal is also home to a abundance of Thai graffiti artists were they will practice there graffiti skills along the 45 mile stretch of canal which makes it a very colorful canal to travel along or walk along.

I will normally ride the taxi boat a few stops away from the city area more the of the beaten tourist tracks and walk my way back till i can't walk anymore then jump on a taxi boat again to take me home , i do this because walking along the walkways you can see more of the way the Thai people are going about there daily life like this guy in his comfort workshop repairing fans marking a buck or two.

Then we have the canal front auto repair shop the young lads hard at work in shorts no T-Shirt and flippers no safety regulations here 🤣

What i enjoy looking at most is the houses the modern ones down to the abandon ones they always intrigue me and sometimes ever though they may look abandon you will find people are still living them like this one this elderly Thai women was out of her little mixed corrugated iron wooden house hanging some cloths out on the walkway railing.

It really does amaze me how they can live in these tin and wooden house with just a fan which is just blowing hot air anyway but Thai's can handle the heat better then us foreigners.

This one is quite cute and taken care of...

This corrugated iron house built above one of the side canals running of the main canal you with find just over one hundred small canals like this running of the main canal and houses like this built no land title and no taxes 😊

DSC06087.JPG

DSC06086.JPG

There are many of the more traditional Thai two story wooden houses along the canal some in great order and others that have just been neglected but still have people living in them.

DSC06174.JPG

DSC06173.JPG

This one has truly been abandon but still standing with some interesting characteristics i would love to know history behind some of these abandon houses.

This one i thought might have been abandon but not there were people living in this one just probably no monies for maintains a real shame.

DSC06183.JPG

DSC06184.JPG

And then right next door to the look alike abandon house is there bright colored lively house standing out like a rainbow 🤣

DSC06188.JPG

DSC06185.JPG

And then you will see the occasional upper class home it is really a cool mixture of history you see along this canal which makes it very interesting to follow your foot steps along this canal.

This next house has almost a identical house next door do it which is abandon one i would love to get into looks more haunted it would get the adrenaline going that's for sure 🙀

And i was wandering how people would get across the canal without having to walk all the way to the cross over bridges , i noticed these floating rafts in the water and these were rafts people could jump on and be bought across the canal by a man pedaled wheel cable rope he would end up with pretty strong leg muscles doing this all day.

DSC06229.JPG

DSC06234.JPG

The peddling man was on a break when i took this photo 🤣

DSC06124.JPG

DSC06126.JPG

Up this part of the canal i noticed it was a lot more of a Thai Muslim community living area and they were all pretty cool quite people.

DSC05908.JPG

DSC06110.JPG

This was sad to see but unfortunately you will see many like this around once maybe a Thai resort by the canal gone bust and left abandon.
