DIY Beauty: Yogurt Cucumber Facial and Honey Cream Mask

in #beauty4 years ago

Check out these two DIY beauty treatments that are very inexpensive to make and quite easy to prepare! Both are face masks - one made with cucumber and yogurt and the other with cream and honey! Delicious!

Creamy Cucumber and Yogurt mask

What's it for: To soften skin and minimize discoloration

Skin type: Oily

Try this DIY beauty recipe if your skin is more on the oily side. Here's what you need:

  • plain yogurt (nonfat)
  • 1/4 cup cucumber (chopped and un-peeled)
  • 1/8 cup russet potato (chopped, un-peel)
  • 2 Tbs. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • egg white (no yolk)

Place your chopped cucumber and potato into a blender and blend for 20-30 seconds on medium speed. Add the remaining ingredients and blend again, this time for 1 minute. The mixture should be fairly consistent and spreadable.

Place the blended ingredients into a dish. Before you apply it to your face, wet your face with warm water. Use the concoction like it is a facial cleanser, rubbing your face in a circular motion with a washcloth. Make sure the cleanser touches all of your face. Massage into your skin for several minutes and then rinse it away with warm water. Make sure all of the mixture is removed and then splash your face with cold water to tighten pores.

For the best results, use this facial 3 times a week.

Honey Cream Mask

What's it for? To moisturize

Skin type: Dry

This is a great moisturizing mask that uses very few products that are easy to find at your grocery store! Here's what you need:

  • 1 tbs. honey
  • 3 tbs. oatmeal
  • 3 tbs. whipping cream

First, take your oats and grind them so they are more fine. You can use a traditional mortar and pestle if you have one, but a simple spoon and bowl will do you just fine!

Next, place the whipping cream into a microwave-safe container and microwave on high for 15 seconds. The whipping cream should be warm, not scalding! - remember, you're placing it on your face! If it gets too hot simply set it aside and let it cool down.

After that, add your honey and stir the two ingredients until you have a consistent texture that is one uniform color. Once this is done you can add the ground oats to your mixture. Stir until all the oats are blended into the wet ingredients (you shouldn't see any dry oats!).

Apply the mixture to your face (no makeup on) and let it set for 5 minutes. Rinse with warm water making sure to remove everything. Splash your face with cool water to tighten pores and gently pat dry.

Good luck!
