#BeerSaturday - Deep Green and Black with some Australian Brewers

in #beersaturday3 years ago

A couple of beers for you today. After Christmas and New Years period we seemed to have gained a lot of beers in our fridge and we are slowly worked through the stock - unusually for use we haven't bought anything (for home drinking) for weeks.

These are two beers that have been sitting in their for a while. One came from a box of colloboration beers we got back in October and the other was some takeaways I bought after going to an event at a brewery back on November.

And let's start with the beers from that event. It event was at Fixation Brewing who specilise in IPA's they have a couple of core line beers which have good distribution but this is one of the smaller run beers which are brewed at their brewpub in Collingwood.

This is a Beautiful clean IPA, not overly fruity but rather just balanced and pleasant very drinkable. If you have great eyesight you may be able to see that it has Idaho 7 Cyro, Simcoe, Amarillo & El Dorado hops in it and I think it's this blending of hops, a couple of them classics in the American IPA scene that give it a no gimmicky return to the golden age of American IPA's which might have been 6-7 years ago, It doesn't taste like fruit juice, it tastes like beer, bitter sure, but very very drinkable and refreshing and it pairs wonderfully with a creamy cheddar cheese which is always a bonus.

Next up is a beer that I'm truly shocked has lasted this long without being drunk because it's a colloboration between two of my favourite breweries. Australian brewers Boatrocker, who are amongst the best brewers in the country and Brouwerif de Molen from the Netherlands.

Named for their two logos it's called Windmills and Weathervanes and it's a Mole-ish Imperial Stout-ish which is a thing maybe. It's hard to explain, so just tilt your head to the side and read the description on the can

Now that is one complicated beer, they seemed to throw pretty much everything at it but I can happily inform you that it works, it really works.

As you can see it pours pitch black and it a beautiful beer, it has waves of flavour, sweetness a hint of chilli but not too much - in fact if it wasn't written on the can I wouldn't have noticed it. There are waves of chocolate, and a sweetness from some bourbon barrels.

It's 9.3% alcohol but so ridiculously smooth that it's very drinkable.

And as always this is part of #beersaturday organised by @detleb. read all about it here

I would also taste both if I had them, otherwise, I prefer the first one. Cheers. 😎 🍻 !BEER
