All this B.S. is a cover for @zeartul to take the money and run. There was a transfer just 9 hours ago to his account from @bellyrub.
And now, since he "doesn't own" @bellyrub and has no source of income, he won't be able to pay back his depositors in @bellyrubbank (which also doesn't make sense that he would own that account and not the actual @bellyrub, right?)...
This ridiculous excuse, combined with the many problematic things mentioned in your post, leads me to believe this is all just a ruse to steal money. This smelled to high hell as soon as he promised 40% APR, and it stunk even worse when he continued to solicit "deposits" after failing to make the last payments.
Shame on you, @zeartul. I hope I'm wrong and you make right by the people who entrusted you with their money - but given your nonchalant nature about missing the last payment and the "transfer" of your account, I'd be really, really surprised if you did.
Yeah, I saw that. The fact he encouraged that rumor to spread leads me to believe that he still owns it and is trying to pass the blame to someone else. That way he can let it collapse and say "hey, it wasn't my fault!"

My guess is @bellyrub was basically operating like a Ponzi, possibly intentionally or just due to mismanagement and miscalculation. A couple days ago @zeartul proposed fundraising to “expand” @bellyrub which did not go over well with the community. The “expansion” was needed just to keep @bellyrub solvent and when it failed the end was near.
It seems like there would be enough to pay everyone back at least a substantial portion if not all of what they’re owed - but it would pretty much wipe out the accounts. It certainly looks like the choice has been made to not pay out anything and just run. If that’s the case all I can say is, “What a bastard.”
Someone push this comment up to the top, the Steem community needs to know who the person zeartul sold the account to is, as the poor behavior of the account needs to appropriately assign public fault/negligence to the person who is now in charge.

I always try to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but to be honest, the blockchain does not lie. The poloniex transactions on @zeartul and @bellyrub make it pretty clear that you are cashing out both accounts to the same place. Will you at least do the right thing and return our deposits to @bellyrubbank?
Consider whether it's really worth it to have the sinking, horrible feeling in the pit of your stomach when you reflect back on where you got it from.

You can not and should not be blamed for this, the transfer happened maybe at a bad time when you were not fully able to oversee it - but how could you know someone you obviously thought was capable of handling the responsibly would instead let the darker side of their personality take over. I do not blame you, and I think it is unfair that many others are posting directly blaming you. We should just be thankful you created something great and it did so much good in the time you controlled it.
But if his intention was to sell and have new ownership of bellyrub, does he not have a duty to the people that invested their money with him to let them know in advance that he is handing over their money to another person.
