I love the idea of Bitcoin and Crypto-assets. I had heard of Bitcoin back in 2009-2010 but had only heard about the dark side of it. Silk Road, Gambling, and that you could get it stolen without any recourse. Of course this is true to Fiat currency as well. You drop a $20 bill on accident, I feel that there are few people anymore that would pick it up to give it back rather than quickly shove it in their pocket before you notice. So, like most, just put it out of my head, as a bad idea to get involved…

At the beginning of this year (2017), it came up again. I can’t remember exactly how or what sparked my interest. I asked guys at work about it (the I.T. Department) and they all said the same as I had heard before, the bad stuff. One even told me “stay away from it, it’s bad news” - (I didn’t listen). I remember that day it was about to hit $1100 when just a day or so prior it had been around $950 and I saw huge potential. This was in March 2017, that I bought my first $20, because I was okay with losing that much just for learning more. I had found Coinbase to be the easiest place to buy it. I read news articles online, and learned about Satoshi Nakamoto, and how it could be used as currency, as more and more stores were willing to accept it. Then learned that there’s a 1000 different Crypto-assets, and it was more or less a type of stock-market So I put in another $80 (to make it an even $100). Some of that was for my first Ethereum, since it was only $40 and it had the #2 spot after Bitcoin I felt it must be okay.
By June-ish, I had $300 in a nice diverse little portfolio. I liked Poloniex, so I left it there. When the huge Bull Run came through, my $300 turned into nearly $1500! I was so excited about it, talking about it all the time. I even got a couple of buddies into it, and my son.

I watched documentaries on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Discovered Andreas Antonopoulos’ video on the Introduction to Bitcoin, and my mind was BLOWN AWAY! This is when I really grasped the idea of Decentralization. I love the way this guy explains it! Then as we know the crash came around June 20, followed by July’s Bear Run. I think I did pretty well, managing to keep around $800-900 of my value throughout. (I was sweating though!)

Come October is when I really started watching stuff on YouTube and found Trevon James @trevonjb, Andreas @aantonop and a few others. I find Trevon to be the one I follow the closest. I find him to be entertaining, funny, and knowledgeable. I’ve learned a lot from him. I have become a follower on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and now listening to his Podcasts… (I’m starting to feel more like a stalker!) – Currently still waiting for my name to come up on your daily 0.1 BTC giveaway Trevon! (wink-wink)…
It has been an AWESOME year! I would really like BTC to end the year above $8000, although I’m not going to hold my breath...
