Bittrex has had a spotty history on the Hive and Steem blockchains, often closing for withdrawals for long periods of time.
Here are the number of withdrawals from Bittrex per day from the very beginning. The outages can easily be seen in the chart, as well as a likely consequence: in recent months it seems that few people are using the exchange perhaps because withdrawals keep getting closed.
Here is the same chart since the Hive exodus fork.
Here are all the outages so far, measured in days.
As you can see, only one outage in early 2022 has lasted longer than the ongoing outage (23 days so far).

They've lost nearly all my business precisely because of this, I now use Binance because of the higher reliability.
It's simply just not good enough.
Nice to see it in charts :)
Or, maybe, they are naked shorting hive and don't want to drive up the price by covering.
People need to stop holding their crypto on centralized exchanges so much.
There are no on/off ramps other than centralized exchanges.
What's going on there at Bittrex? Sounds very dodgy
My personal hypothesis is that they are relying on a node to process transfers, but when that node has an error and has to replay, they don't have any backup and they don't use public nodes. Replay times are quite long for Hive nodes, so relying on just a single node of their own would be prone to outages.
Ok! That makes sense
Seems more people can't actually wait for hive to hit the $1 target before they sell again
