The fork 22.2 was an ethical failure as well as a tactical failure. Sun's tweets about airdrops did not constitute an existential threat to STEEM. If a powerdown/transfer was initiated on the accounts in question, witnesses would have plenty of time to establish lines of communication and decide on a course of action. However the bigger issue is the tactical failure of allowing a single entity to easily control the entire chain. The witnesses have neglected this fundamental security risk, probably for their own favor, and this was the most obvious attack vector after freezing wallets. It was the only question I asked the witnesses about on the Steem Consensus Witness Statement Soft Fork 22.2 thread, and only two responded.
