How would we identify if a blockchain community has become a cult?
First how would we even define what is and isn't a cult?
Second what criteria would we use to apply to know when a certain blockchain community has gone from being based on profit and shared stake to become based beliefs?
Do we just look at how the marketing is set up to determine if it's a cult?
Do we base it on whether there are control tactics?
Should we even care if blockchain communities evolve into cults unless those cults become malicious?

They spread wild theories of bovine flatulence as well as unfounded theories and rumors.
Let alone wild accusations on the personal level about it how if you eat me you are a murdering rapist and deserve to die. And this coming from a so called pacifist?
But yeah there is quite a few groups that look to be evolving control and groups. Just wait next year is gonna be fun.

When does that cult become a religion?
Since cults and communities are both groups of people, the difference can be seen in the relationship among those in the group. People in a cult have a CULTure which is the result of the connection they have among themselves while people in a community only have common interests without any connection. Lacking connection often serves as a motive for people to ridicule others as belonging to a cult when they are jealous of the relationship such people have.

The catholic church is the biggest cult on the planet but they have been going strong for thousands of years. People seem to like it.

Initially your approach is difficult to digest. But then once we analyze it from a perspective it begins to make sense.
Cults have ancestral techniques of collective domination. These have been tested and demonstrated in their effectiveness.
Then it would not be far fetched to think that any community leader could implement any of these tactics to group members around his own interests.
