En busca de material para publicar en Steemit, me encontré esta curiosa planta en el jardín de la mamá de una de mis mejores amigas. Sus flores alargadas y de color rojo brillante llamaron mi atención, de inmediato. Pregunté: ¿cuál era su nombre? Y la sobrina de mi amiga, que conoce cada rincón del jardín de su abuela. Me respondió: “rabo de mono”.
In search of material to publish on Steemit, I found this curious plant in the garden of the mother of one of my best friends. Its elongated and bright red flowers caught my attention, immediately. I asked: what was his name? And my friend's niece, who knows every corner of her grandmother's garden. He replied: "monkey tail"
Con ese nombre tan pintoresco y con esa apariencia. Decidí investigar al respecto y encontré que el nombre científico de este arbusto es “Acalypha hispida” y pertenece a la familia “Euphorbiaceae”. En otros países, se le conoce como: moco de pavo, rabo de gato o manto de candela. Su origen es de Malasia y puede alcanzar una altura y envergadura de 1,8 metros.
With that name so picturesque and with that appearance. I decided to investigate about it and found that the scientific name of this shrub is “Acalypha hispida” and belongs to the family “Euphorbiaceae”. In other countries, it is known as: turkey mucus, cattail or candle mantle. Its origin is from Malaysia and can reach a height and wingspan of 1.8 meters.

Es una planta ornamental y se adapta perfectamente a los países con clima tropical y subtropical. Por ello, es resistente a la exposición del sol durante todo el día. Con excepción de la época de verano, que si deben tener un cuidado especial y ser regadas 2 o 3 veces por semana.
