New plan: a daily posting schedule

in #blog2 years ago

May Day 2004 was when I started my first personal blog. That's why I want to make a big announcement today while I'm not quite ready to implement this plan. It's inspired by @actifit's time limit. At first, I was annoyed that you have to post a report by the next day at the lastest. But I started to appreciate it recently. It helps me to post regularly without spending too much time on a single post.

But now fitness reports take up too much of my blog. I never intended to be a life blogger or fitness blogger. That's not really my strongest point. I gave up effortposting because I remembered what happened last time I tried to 'work in crypto', in 2018: blogging, trading and arguing on Twitter and Reddit was enough to fill a day, without doing anything productive. I'm not the kind of person who can post regularly in addition to a full-time job. On the other hand, I'm spending more time on Hive since I deleted the Twitter and Reddit apps from my phone a month ago.

Anyway, I decided to dedicate every day of the week to a particular topic. I won't be posting literally every day, but I'll gradually create this expectation that every day has its theme, and I'll disappoint myself when I need to postpone it to the next week.

Since I believe in the magic of coincidences, I've chosen to use alliterations for the daily themes. Yes, I know two of these aren't proper alliterations, let's not take this too seriously.

  • Museum Monday. Let's start the week by appreciating beauty. I'll discuss why I love abstract art, showing examples from my NFT collection and my visits to museums. I also make conceptual art from words, and I've put off publishing it too long with the excuse that you'd need to see it collected in a big book to appreciate it properly.
  • Crypto Tuesday. I considered calling this Token Tuesday or Tech Tuesday, but I'd focus on the technology and culture of cryptocurrencies anyway.
  • Whatever Wednesday. It's not like I couldn't come up with a theme for Wednesday, but there needs to be a spot for random topics too.
  • Tourism Thursday. I still have a lot of photos and some stories from my travels in 2017, as well as dashcam videos, and I should start posting them before I get back on the road again, six weeks from now. I might alternate this with Dutch Donderdag. Would you like to know more about the Netherlands or the Dutch language?
  • Philosophy Phriday. This means I will be philosophizing, not just writing about philosophers. Anyone who can think should be able to follow this. There will be trolley problem memes too. (I could've chosen Photography Phriday, but I'm not a good photographer.)
  • Socialism Saturday. Can't miss this opportunity to trigger the libertarians while honoring the movement that gave us the weekend. Don't take this literally, I'll remain politically unreliable.
  • Songbook Sunday. I've been thinking about a Songbook series for a long time. I want to talk about why I love the songs I love. Can't get technical about the music as that's not my expertise - I'll focus on the mood and the lyrics in relation to the world around us. Might contain traces of socialism.

Other people's art

This will come up in the context of Museum Monday and Songbook Sunday, so let's tackle it in advance. What do our spamfighters think about posts focused on admiring other people's art, while adding my own content? I hope I made it clear I'm not interested in lazily exploiting other people's work. Does it make a difference (morally, not legally) when I post an NFT I own? For edge cases, would you recommend sending 50% of the rewards to the DHF? Is this post already suspect because I used a parody of a famous socialist cartoon? I can't find the source, it's hard to search for black-and-white images.

Personally, I feel like having to ask these questions is already stifling my cultural expression. We can't live without memes shared freely. Intellectual property is theft.

Funny, I just started to work with a schedule more myself. Actual more like time management with all the things I'm working on to be completely honest. To make it less of a task for myself sometimes. I love the daily topics and I realized that these would be perfect candidates to be shared on Listnerds for more engagement.

If you haven't heard of it yet, I just shared this blog on my account, and you will probably find some new people commenting the next day. If you would like to know more, hit me up on discord HelloSunshine [ThisIsMyLife]#1947 or check out my latest posts about it. The engagement is HUGE and the earnings, even more, wow! (Example, today we earned 116 Listnerds for 1 email = 1.5-2 Hive per Listnerds)

I'd love to have a chat and onboard you in our awesome team honestly. I'm going to be following these daily topics anyway. Have a good week ahead!

Listnerds-Join-Our-Team

Thanks for sharing my post! I'll consider it. I've noticed ListNerds and I thought it was for people selling something. Are these emails also posted as blog posts?

Were exactly my thoughts haha. But probably everyone else's :)
You are welcome to join our team of supportive members, we care about adding value not dropping a random link from the net :)

And I wrote tons of guides to help the newbies on Listnerds out, so in case you need some more info you can contact me on Discord HelloSunshine [ThisIsMyLife]#1947 or sign up directly, using this link but I'd advise you to have a chat first so you can make a good choice that fits your needs!

Have a great weekend!

I like your schedule a lot and I think it will work because setting expectations i think is something of a building block for establishing any kind of audience. People know what to roughly expect from you. It’s a bit like the follow Friday idea that @steevc started here on Hive borrowed from Twitter. I’ve started one, though have forgotten again today but not to worry lol.

I try not to tie myself down too much, but Follow Friday is one post I like to do just about every week. It has to be fun for me and not too much of a chore.

Ahh, wonderful weekly programme. I like phridays too but what I like to see more of those flosophy posts/tweets 😁 so I'm following you. Nice to meet you

I just remembered where I got the Phriday from: Photoshop Phriday on Something Awful. Not so philosophical, but a big deal in the history of the web.

I think we need a bit more socialism on Hive :) You can be earning whilst still caring about social justice.

I think you have to find what your audience will enjoy and mixing it up may help.

Make it fun!

Socialism Saturday is what I'm starting with!

I am astonished by the versatility of your planned blogging schedule in fact I am in awe. It means I still have a lot to learn, it might actually inspire me to think outside my present box, thinking now, I hope it does, thanks.

Thank you! This is what I've always enjoyed about reading blogs and social media, that you get to know a whole person and their interests in that context. I've had half a century to gain a variety of experience.

To be honest, if you want to be popular, it would be smarter to focus on one message, like "Bitcoin solves every problem", but then I'd get bored.

Oh, I love a good organizational post, especially a time blocking one! I especially like your new themed blog block schedule and hope it works out smashingly for you😊 Came here thanks to @thisismylife from Listnerds, nice to meet ya!

I like your selection of tasks. I have also made a commitment to posting every day.
I have been a little slack for a couple of weeks now and I am noticing my engagement going down. I cant have that. Time to recommit.
Thanks for the great post.

Thanks, happy to hear it inspired you! I should make clear I'm not committing to posting every day, outside of Actifit. It's a balancing act: adding some pressure, but not so much that you'd rather call the whole thing off.

It's a way to change "I'll post about this someday" to "This will fit on the schedule this week or next week".

Ooh I actually like this very much. It´s a good source of inspiration, now I have to give myself some time management too and I´ll be settled for success! Lol. Thanks for bringing this up!

I love the idea! Very inspiring, + yeah I find it great to promote and talk about artists :)

Found you from listnerds :)

I absolutely love this and will try it out. Very thankful to @thisismylife for sharing this on listnerd!

Ahaha. I came here from listnerds because I saw your picture with beavis on it.

Hahaha

I like your schedule and am looking forward to seeing it on ListNerds. Thanks for sharing.
