This workhorse has started making grinding noises. It was a drive that came out of a laptop that I upgraded to an SSD a few years ago.

Since then I have been using it as an archive drive, something that I dump backups on and then put it in a fancy shoebox just in case a backup dies. Well, this is why you should ALWAYS have three copies for importance things:
- The working copy (the one you use)
- The on-site backup (or cloud backup)
- The off-site backup (or a second cloud)
I like to keep a fourth "archive" backup, this is a backup that isn't attached to a computer or network. A copy that will likely survive a massive EMP or CME.
