Humanitarian smart contracts

It's no secret that cryptocurrency is finding real world adoption hard. Various reasons exist, but the truth could be the current fiat systems we use are not broken enough (many are better) than replacements proposed by various crypto projects.

We are in the early stages of a project to use Byteball smart contracts with clear real-world benefits that no government fiat currency offers. As an added bonus the project has a humanitarian angle. Given the continual (deserved?) bad public relations that PoW projects like Bitcoin receive in the media, this could potentially be the start of positive Byteball coverage in the mass media.

IoT milestone complete

The Byteball Internet-of-Things project has completed milestone 4 of their grant, which consisted of:

Optimization of channel creation and operation
Create seamless transitions between channels (when money runs out)
Website with documentation and examples

Some other high profile IoT-focused cryptocurrency projects are often featured in sector news for the wrong reasons. So far Byteball Internet-of-Things has not received any coverage, but with the continued progress being made you can expect this to change.

Upbit deposits and withdrawals enabled

Upbit has enabled the deposit and withdrawal of Bytes! This means users can now withdraw Bytes from the exchange and hold them on their own Byteball wallet, which is obviously one of the key benefits of cryptocurrency. Up until recently Bytes could only be traded on Upbit, not deposited or withdrawn.

Given many people understandably do not want to hold large amounts of cryptocurrency on exchanges, this was not ideal. By volume Upbit is the second most popular exchange for trading Bytes, so this development could be significant.

FirstByte starter kit released

The starter kit has been released on Github for the FirstByte project.

Reminder - FirstByte is a project to enable people with moderate development skills (or a willingness to learn) to produce shippable best-practice apps. The core of FirstByte is built on the Quasar Framework and Byteball.js.
