History of Aston Martin DB2/4
Successor of the DB2, the Aston Martin DB2/4 was produced between 1953 and 1957 in 3 versions :
🚗 Saloon (2+2 hatchback),
🚗 Drophead Coupé (DHC),
🚗 Fixed Head Coupé (2 seats).
The coachwork of this example was designed by Mulliners of Birmingham, I didn't know this builder before, always cool to discover new things.
Just to get a picture of the DB2 in mind and see the improvements more easily 😀

So the DB2/4 was based on the DB2 with some upgrades : wraparound windsreen, new design of the headlights, larger bumpers and a reduction in fuel tank capacity for more space for the rear seats.
Although the DB2/4 was not designed to be a racing car, it participted with success at some competitions like in 1955 in the Monte Carlo Rally.
The 2+2 DB2/4 aka Sports Saloon was presented in 1953 to satisfy sports car enthusiasts with a family. Thanks to the reduction in fuel tanks, two small rear seats could be installed or if the seats are folded more space for luggage. Only 451 DB2/4 Mark I were built.
"The fastest automobile in the world capable of carrying two people with a month’s luggage” - The Motor magazine - 1954.
Specification
Named the Gentleman's Express, the Aston Martin DB2/4 has 2,580 cc DOHC inline six-cylinder engine with dual SU carburettors with four-speed manual transmission producing 125 hp. It can reach 100 kmh in 11 seconds with a top speed of 190 kmh.
This example was sold on 1955 in Brussels finished originally in Moonbeam Grey, now in light green over a dark green interior. This restoration was done in 1985. Not fan of this color, maybe in grey, I would have bid 😀
"The Aston Martin DB2/4 is an expensive car designed to cater for the connoisseur of sports cars who is not limited by financial considerations." - Autocar - 1953
