Today, for the last post of this sale, this cool 1973 De Tomaso Pantera GTS Coupé is offering with a current bid to € 40,000 with only two days left on the ⏱ :
I don't why but when I look the design of this car done by Carrozzeria Ghia, I want to play Out Run (the older among us spent a few dollars in this arcade game 😀)
History of De Tomaso Pantera
The Pantera is a sports car produced between 1971 and 1992 by De Tomaso, Italian car company. The automobile manufacturer was founded by Alejandro de Tomaso in Modena in 1959 producing at only the beginning racing cars.
After the success of the Mangusta (see photo below), Alejandro de Tomaso asked to Gianpaolo Dallara, Lamborghini chief designer at this time, to design the chassis for a mid-engined supercar : the Pantera. While the coachwork was designed by Tom Tjaarda, American designer working for Carrozzeria Ghia.

The Coupé version was buit by Carrozzeria Vignale (Ghia and Vignale were part of the De Tomaso's empire in the early 70's).
Thanks to his partenership with Ford, the Pantera was distributed in the USA with another engine to meet the US regulations. The American magazine Road & Track* named the car 1973 Sports Car of the Year. The Pantera was still on the marked around the 90's thanks to many upgrades. Rare for a supercar to last so long !
Specification
The De Tomaso Pantera is equipped with 5.8-litre Ford Cleveland engine mated to a ZF all-synchro five-speed transaxle. The engine produces (for the European market) 330 hp with a top speed of 257 kmh (160 mph) and can reach 100 kmh in just 5 seconds.
This example is finished in metallic grey over a black leather interior. Beautiful iconic Gran Turismo car, the perfect mix of the Italian design with the US muscle engine.
Can you see yourself behind the wheel of this car ?
Why not ... but I would remove the stickers Matching Numbers.
