Isuzu Super Truck - Modified To The Max!

in #cars2 years ago (edited)

It's time for another petrolheaded treat, this time in diesel flavor. This incredible truck is almost beyond description, as virtually no part of it appears to be original. It may look like a truck on first appearances, however diving in up-close reveals endless modifications!

NoS or Nitros Oxide features heavily here, with lots of big welding and plumbing. It really does seem to be some masterpiece of engine modification. There are replacement anodized metal parts everywhere. The bonnet and all 4 doors seem to have carbon skins. The entire breathing apparatus from intakes, turbos and exhausts was totally flush with enormous metal piping which had been heat-treated for colorful effect.

From a distance

Inside the engine bay, looks clean enough to eat your dinner from it. Upon startup, there is a series of gulps and whirring sounds as it doesn't start like a conventional motor. There are some fuel pumps and other auxiliary mechanical noises before the engine is heard to fire. When it does, the sucking of the induction can be heard straight away and the turbos start to whir as soon as the throttle is blipped. Sounds like no diesel engine you've ever heard, and very powerful with it.

Here's a quick YouTube clip of the truck being started and revved, plus you get to see the engine in motion.

Inside, it's a mix between street and race or drag truck. Most of the essentials are still present, however a lot has changed also. There is a racing spec steering wheel, seen folded in the picture to allow easy access in and out of the extremely steep sided bucket seats. There are dials everywhere, for every purpose. Down in the center console, I also spotted the controls for the NoS system. This truck can really move down the road if it wants to!

Seriously you really could eat your lunch of parts of this truck. Likely fry some eggs or chicken on it also, although the owner probably wouldn't appreciate that so much.

Isuzu stock. honest.

Off-Grid Tuner Style

I met with the owner and in order to communicate with me who did the build, he showed me around to the stickers on the back. Ahem. What can we say here! At first I thought, palm, like palm trees right? Since it's a local beach car ... hahahaha well, I'll let you study the picture below and be the judge. Main one is the tuning shop it came from, along with aftermarket parts sponsors/collaborators. Just don't try to find "SPERM 'tune by palm' Thailand custom truck" on an Internet search. Please, we already did and it was horrifying.

These folk don't seem to be on the Internet. They are a word of mouth shop in the tuner circles. The truck it seems is their advertising, one mobile phone number. However this is common in Thailand anyway, so people can get in touch if you're parked in the wrong place ...

This isn't your average Google maps business after all. They're clientele must be quite clued into what they want already - the closer you look at the details on these vehicles the more this is apparent.

The carbon wrap on the exterior door skins was very shiny and reflective.Being black it could take on an almost chrome/mirror effect which is how I got the shot below with it's sister tuned up Civic.

There was also a Honda Civic from the same tuner present

Carbon effect or perhaps also the full door skins are carbon fibre, as the hood is also

As you can tell from the photographs, even though they're adjusted in post slightly the paintwork and finish is show quality.

Enjoying the breeze

Interior still looks civilized

Brake servo and plumbing

So many details that we could have gone on all day picking them out! Below, a closer look and different angle on the engine bay. There are a lot of nice aftermarket parts that total more than the truck cost new!

Carbon fibre race-style door mirrors

Throughout the chassis and at the rear of the truck bed there are stiffening roll bars to obviously ensure the vehicle can cope with the additional stresses of the power output and remain safe to operate. Cruise to the track or drag strip, do your thing, and go home. Provided you have any tires left.

Metalwork

The Wrap

Thailand continues to show it's got what it takes in the tuning stakes to create some very interesting rides. Hope you enjoyed this one, fresh from last Friday in Chonburi province, Thailand.
