Riofrío surge de las emanaciones de rocas calcáreas de Sierra Gorda. Su nacimiento no se limita a un sumidero sin más, sino que en el recorrido de esta ruta, fresca y agradable, podemos ir encontrando surgencias de agua a lo largo del cauce a pesar de la época tan seca en la que nos encontramos.

El paseo es una delicia. Agua fresca y limpia, recorriendo sin cesar por cada esquina, formando pequeñas cascadas en un entorno lleno de higueras, de aves y de vida en general.

Conforme avanzamos podemos encontrar viejas edificaciones en ruinas, antiguos molinos que aprovechaban la fuerza de estas aguas en un pasado no muy lejano.

La temperatura estable de estas aguas de alrededor de 15 grados Centígrados todo el año, las hace un medio propicio para la cría de la trucha o del esturión.
