While at my mom's house she started working, and like me, she likes to work with music. It is very redundant to say that she does not like the same type of music as me (although we do have common tastes, of course), while I go more for rap, hip hop, pop and rock, my Mom is more of merengue, salsa and ballads; other genres that I can also enjoy, but they are not my favorites. However, listening to those types of genres makes me want to dance (although I don't know), so I asked myself the question of why this happens.
Estando en casa de mi mamá ella empezó a trabajar, y al igual que yo, a ella le gusta trabajar con música. Es muy redundante decir que a ella no le gusta el mismo tipo de música que a mí (a pesar de que si tenemos gustos en común, claro está), mientras yo me voy más por el rap, hip hop, pop y rock, mi mamá es más de merengue, salsa y baladas; otros géneros que yo también puedo disfrutar, pero no son mis preferidos. Sin embargo, al escuchar ese tipo de géneros me dan ganas de bailar (a pesar de que no sé), así que me hice la pregunta del porque pasa esto.
I did some research and am amazed that Salsa Truth is not a Latin genre, although it has its biggest influence here. Salsa began as a genre that combined Afro-Cuban rhythms with a little jazz and the "swing" typical of Puerto Ricans in the United States. Back in the 1970s, Puerto Ricans began to show this type of music that was performed with instruments such as the bongo, to also give it a mambo rhythm.
Investigué un poco y me sorprende que la Salsa la verdad no sea un género latino, aunque tiene su mayor influencia aquí. La Salsa empezó como un género que combinaba ritmos afrocubanos con un poco de jazz y el “swing” propio de los puertorriqueños en estados unidos. Por allá por los años 70’s, los puertorriqueños empezaron a mostrar este tipo de música que se llevaba a cabo con instrumentos como el bongo, para también darle un ritmo de mambo.
Little by little Salsa, which had started as a cultural movement in the United States, came to Latin America where it lived its boom. Some ballads and Brazilian songs were brought to a salsa version, which ended up being more listened to than the original ones, in addition to that Salsa had many ways of being subdivided.
Poco a poco la Salsa, que había empezado como un movimiento cultural en estados unidos, llegó a Latinoamérica en donde vivió su auge. Algunas baladas y canciones brasileñas fueron llevadas a una versión salsa, que terminaron siendo más escuchadas que las originales, además de que la Salsa tenía muchas formas de ser subdividida.
So, we already have a bit of the history of salsa, and we know that it has become an incredible cultural aspect that has spread to Japan and the world. Most of this happened because we carry this genre in our blood, since it seeks to give a more novel aura to what Africans used to play, which ended up being almost the same as Latin Americans played in times of colonization.
Entonces, ya tenemos un poco de la historia de la salsa, y sabemos que ha llegado a ser un aspecto cultural increíble que se ha esparcido hasta llegar a Japón y todo el mundo. Esto pasó en su mayoría porque llevamos este género en la sangre, ya que busca mucho darle un aura más novedoso a lo que solían tocar los africanos, que terminó siendo casi lo mismo que tocaban los latinoamericanos en las épocas de la colonización.
