Yesterday I finished watching the first season of Utopia and wondered how come I have never seen that series before. Despite the fact that in many parts the series made me grimace for a bad script or something that could have gone better in some way, it is impossible not to fall in love with the artistic section of the series, and I have come to talk about that little here. I am going to put aside what I do not like because if I talk about it, it is possible that many people are reluctant to see this incredible series, which I cannot miss.
Ayer terminé de ver la primera temporada de Utopia y me pregunté cómo es que nunca había visto esa serie antes. A pesar de que en muchas partes la serie me hizo hacer una mueca por un mal guion o algo que de alguna forma podría haber salido mejor, es imposible no quedar enamorado con el apartado artístico que tiene la serie, y de eso vengo a hablar un poco aquí. Voy a hacer a un lado lo que no me gusta porque si hablo de eso es posible que muchas personas estén renuentes a ver esta increíble serie, cosa que no puedo dejar pasar.
The series is uncomfortable but it also catches, and it's something that I fell in love with from the first chapter. Being a series of sify, I like to believe that the colors are so saturated because this way they take us out of the wave making us realize that it is not a real world and what we are seeing is simply fiction. Everything is synchronized to make it look symmetrical and monochromatic, which pleases me in a way that is difficult to explain. It is noticeable from beginning to end that each color is thinking to show us something new or that fits the scene, either showing a pastel yellow in a violent scene, which will make it uncomfortable to see. Or a completely red scene combined with something sad, which makes us increase the feeling of the scene.
La serie incomoda pero también atrapa, y es algo que me enamoró desde el primer capítulo. Siendo una serie de sify, me gusta creer que los colores están tan saturados porque así nos sacan de la onda haciéndonos caer en cuenta de que no es un mundo real y lo que estamos viendo es simplemente ficción. Todo está sincronizado para que se vea simétrico y monocromático, lo cual me agrada de una forma que es difícil de explicar. Se nota desde principio a fin que cada color está pensando para mostrarnos algo nuevo o que vaya acorde a la escena, ya sea mostrando un amarillo pastel en una escena violenta, que hará que sea incomoda de ver. O una escena completamente roja combinada con algo triste, que nos hace aumentar el sentimiento de la escena.
And since I'm only talking about the visual section, color is something important but a series (or a movie) is not simply worth that, and that's why I also appreciate that Utopia has such well-made scenes, with incredible shots that sometimes they leave us with our mouths open. Several scenes are crude but they know how to do something "crude" without touching the line of the implausible, which I think is great or a very strong point for this series that I really appreciate seeing and recommending it to me.
Y ya que estoy hablando solo del apartado visual, el color es algo importante pero una serie (o una película) no se vale simplemente de eso, y por eso también agradezco que Utopia tenga unas escenas tan bien logradas, con tomas increíbles que a veces nos dejan con la boca abierta. Varias escenas son crudas pero saben cómo lograr hacer algo “crudo” sin rozar la línea de lo inverosímil, lo que me parece buenísimo o un punto muy fuerte para esta serie que en serio agradezco mucho haber visto y que me la hayan recomendado.
