I choose to be of an ethnicity everybody hates in your country, it is an amazing feeling to make them believe otherwise afterwards

I think these choices are sort of close. I would selfishly choose hated ethnicity. Although hated by many love and friendship could be found with those of same hated ethnicity. I don't really mind the ugly except for loss of love. Even if it is fleeting and I think some never do find it.
