Today’s verse deals with humility. But what is humility? When do we need to be humble and what does it mean to us in our lives?
Humility is submitting to the Lord. It’s acknowledging that only He know reality. Only His understanding is correct. Humility is acknowledging that our view of reality and fairness is an illusion created by our limited perception. We only know a fraction of the truth. Although we feel it is enough to understand and know, it isn’t.
Sometimes it isn’t easy to admit to this. When we drive, we are the best drivers. If someone drives faster than us- their crazy. If they drive slower than we like, they are Sunday drivers or bad drivers. Our gauge for judging our understanding others is different than we use for ourselves. Our perception is inaccurate and bias.
We should always be humble and confident that God had our best interests at heart. Unfortunately, people seldom think this way. They tend to humble themselves in time of trouble. Even they it’s more of a blackmail than true humility. They flock to religion to buy a way out of trouble.
God is like a loving parent. Bad things happen. We can’t understand why. We are unable to understand the truth of the situation. But we should humble ourselves and give thanks and praise.
