There are many things that we do which grieves the Holy Spirit but basic it all boils down to sinning against God and against Mankind.
We represent the temple of God and so when we sin against ourselves we dirty God’s temple and thus also Sinning against God.
We have been assigned guidelines for this passage of life all of which can be found in the scriptures. As the Holy is the Comforter standing in for the trinity with us here on earth now sinning is basically causing grievance to him.
Then there is the issue of speaking against him which in that case will not be forgiven. This is also another of grievance we cause the Holy Spirit. So we should be mindful of our words and our actions and to seeing to do what we ought to do as Christians to glorify our father in heaven.
