Between Holidays

A TIME FOR FAMILY, PEACE AND MUCH EATING

Hey Hive family 👋🏾

I've been off posting for a few days to fully enjoy the festive season. I've been eyeing up some of your posts on my phone when I came up for air, and a couple of my scheduled posts came up during this time and I did reply to some comments. I was, however, mainly chilling out and enjoying the festive period.

I have some extended family in the UK, but we decided to abide by the government directives to mingle during Christmas. Judging by Intagram posts though, we must have been part of the few that complied. I saw lots of Christmas sweater photos of families that I know for sure don't live together. Oh well :)

One thing this season is known for is over-eating, and I did a lot of it. In fact I had to freeze away a lot of food which I will be slowly thawing and enjoying over the coming weeks. Even pies and cakes can be, and were, frozen for this purpose. I'm not one to waste food.

Talking of thawing, today is the coldest day so far this winter - a truly sub-zero day in London. We have frost and haze everywhere but despite the optimistic predictions, no snow.

I said a little prayer to the central heating gods last night before going to bed. Historically my boiler had picked the worst possible times to cease. I's been good lately, so fingers crossed. It's hard enough getting (reputable) plumbers and gas engineers during this time. There's also COVID.

On the night of Boxing Day we were hit by a pretty severe storm, "Bella". It was much worse in other parts but the wind noises made it quite hard to sleep. I honestly thought my roof was going to cave in or snap from the swaying sounds it was making. I should probably have it inspected at some point.

Crypto went bananas didn't it? I accidentally sold one of my coins. I usually have these pie-in-the-sky orders open just in case there's a spike or someone fat-thumbs and actually fills it. I'd then hopefully buy back at a profit. I had forgotten it was there since it was such an unlikely price when I placed it. Sadly I haven't since had a chance to buy back in, so I'd probably have to move sideways to another promising poopoocoin :)

I've tried to avoid the news, but some of it still got pushed to me by my phone, family and friends. There were talks of political mayhem, imminent war, bomb blasts, yadi-yada. This world can get a little overwhelming sometimes.

Apart from that, it's been a much better Christmas than I expected. Life is surprisingly good-ish even under these circumstances. I'm marginally jealous of all my friends that managed to escape this winter to some beautiful spots like Mexico, Tanzania and Ghana. I see their photos in their shorts and bright tropical clothes :)

I take heart in the fact that the days are starting to get longer and Spring is closer than we think. Between the holidays, it's back to the hustle for another few days before taking more time off to usher in the new year and wave good riddance to 2020.

Peace & Love,

Adé

Hi, I also took these days to rest a bit which is good, you must take care of your heating I hope it is not damaged, as for the crypto I hope you can buy again, next year the gain will be great

Thanks. Yeas it was a nice time off and I hope many people were able to do the same.

I hope so, buddy, to recharge your batteries for next year

Christmas in Australia is summer so we always tend to have pretty decent holidays. Filled with friends, families, beach and BBQs. For us we had an added advantage that the state I live in, Victoria. Went for Elimination early. We endured some of the harshest lockdowns but as the world grapples with CoVID19 we are free from it, for now anyway.

Glad you had a ripper of a Xmas mate. Enjoy!

"Christmas in Australia is summer so we always tend to have pretty decent holidays. Filled with friends, families, beach and BBQs"
I'm totally not jealous haha. 😭. I remember an Australian xmas song, not quite remembering the lyrics totally but it had Santa in Bermuda shorts an Hawaiian shirt and a beach and another one "6 white boomers" haha.

Yes I read about the harsh sacrifices you guys made. I hope it lasts. These successes are easily wiped out by international travel unfortunately. I'm certain someone from England has already taken the new mutant to you guys :/

How do You transfer BAT from Uphold bounded with Brave Browser to someone else, like crypto market (I use B ittrex)? Whenever I try to do that, there are some crazy things. Guy on forum told me that BAT is related with gas or sth like that which is completely unexpected.

BAT is a weird one. It's an ERC-20 token, which means it's build on top of Ethereum. From the Brave browser you can only send it to Uphold wallet. You can also tip someone via the browser if they have an account setup. Once in Uphold, you can only trade it.. you can't transfer it.

Whaat? What a bullshit. That browser does not deserve so good words I said about it anymore.

I don't want to tip, especially that I can tip only big corporations like Fiver or Chess.com, not people like You.
What do You mean it can be traded? So how can I spend it in any way? There are a lot of options on Uphold but I don't know what they mean.

LOL. It's because many content creators didn't bother to set up their BAT wallet to receive tips. You have to verify your website or page with them first.

Yes you can trade your BAT in Uphold for fiat. I've spent mine months ago :)

Heh, I need to pay 24 BAT to transfer 7,67 BAT. Transaction fee is twice as much as amount of transaction itself. This is bullshit. I'm not going to go deeper into that crypto.

Yes that's ridiculous. I'm not a big BAT fan because of that. Hive is so much better.
