I've been enjoying the new CineTV.io.
I am not a big fan of the hew Hollywood but must admit that I enjoy watching old shows on Youtube. Quite frankly, I wish that there were other platforms streaming old movies.
Anyway, the movie "Mars Attacks" showed up in Youtube's free with ads section.
Tim Burton produced this flick in the 1996 as part of the build up to the turn of the millennia. The movie features many of the big stars from the 1990s including Michael Fox, Glenn Close, Pierce Brosnan, Danny Davito, Martin Short, Jim Brown, Tom Jones and Natalie Portman as a really hot Martian lady.
The movie is a stylized recap of the campy scifi films of the 50s and 60s which often featured alien invasion.
This is the way I read the movie. The Martians wanted peaceful co-existence. In the first meeting between the Martians and people, a member of the crowd attacked the Martian ambassador with a dove.
The really big mistake happened when the president, played by Jack Nicholson, provoked the ambassador a second time. This brings up the question: Why did the American people elect Jack Nicholson as president?
Since the Martians had superior technology, they held the upper hand in the battle until the main protagonist in the film discovered that the music of Slim Whitman had a soothing effect on the invaders.

Youtube also added Galaxy Quest to their list of free with ad movies this month. It is another fun Scifi film from the 1990s.
