As an avid collector of original comic book art, I look forward to the days when Michael’s Craft Stores run their 70% off Framing Sale! My local one has a great staff that handles my pieces with care, and they take the time to help me craft and create a gorgeous home for that piece to display…well…in my home.
Well…I got the notice…
…and I’m broke as I’ve been throwing in every spare cent not needed to literally survive, into Splinterlands. So, I’m kinda on a budget this go around. Usually I will bang out between 4-7 pieces in one visit. Lord knows I have a stack of stuff waiting to be immortalized in museum glass for my viewing pleasure. But for this go around, I’m only going with two pieces.
The wife is treating me to one which is super swell of her. With her landing a killer job recently, her finances went from wet baby shit up the back to a lovely clean pinch. Her turnaround is my gain as she gifts me a framing job on a piece. Thanks love!
Even with the 70% off, these still can be between $150-$250 a pop depending on the bells and whistles, but I figured I could sacrifice a little SPS buying this week to get one more framed. That’s where I need your help folks!
I believe I’m going to use her gifting of a frame job on this beauty. It’s an oversized piece by the amazing Frank Cho, and is the original cover art to Amazing Spider-Man #663.
Typically, most pages stand in at the standard 11x17…but this tall drink of water measures at an oversized 14x21. So it’s gonna be a bit more $$$ as it’s got more meat to it. Here is the published cover for reference.
What I am on the fence about, is which of these other beauties gets the special treatment today?!? They are all worthy and will eventually be framed for the gallery…but how the hell can I pick just one?!? That’s where you come in…
On Saturday I’ll be going and whichever piece here gets the most support behind it, will be my choice. So help me decide fellow Hivers!!! Below are the options with the published versions just for reference. Please leave a comment with which cover should joint the Cho piece above in being dropped off at Michael’s this weekend…
Amazing Spider-Man #71 by Federico Vicentini

Off topic soz i just noticed yer HP - what did you sell all yer Hive for?!?
I emptied my Hive to help me secure 2 Tracts and a few other SL assets. My plan is to buy a % back weekly once Land is operational and up and running.
I’ll build back up to more than my last bag. I love Hive.
Going strictly off my own favorite artists… you’ve already got my number one pick, Cho covered 👍 so the number two slot for me is Checchetto!
edit - Damn that Garron piece is making a strong case for itself though...
Right?!? Ultimately in the next year, these will all be framed up ideally. But it’s hard to choose just one.
I like #74
Regards to your wife
Which #74 as there are two of them. The Checchetto? Or the Vicentini?
Marco Checchetto

That's quite a collection. I wouldn't know which to go for, but any will look great on your wall. Enjoy.
Amazing Spider-Man #74 by Marco Checchetto gets my vote.
✔️ Amazing Spider-Man #73 by Federico Vicentini
They're all cool but that one gets my vote! Really neat composition. Runner up nod to Amazing Spider-Man #67 by Javier Garron. Just feels like a classically solid piece.
Appreciate the vote. I had to go with the Checchetto #74. I’m looking forward to picking em up this week.
