I found Steemit really by listening to Jerry Banfield on YouTube, which I came across while researching crypto. I had heard of both STEEM and Steemit before, but it was actually always in a negative light, so I wasn't paying much attention to it for months.
Then something in how Jerry presented the idea of the "introduce yourself" post just clicked with me. His story was so much like my own that for the first time I thought, "Maybe I could find a community on there." So I joined a couple weeks ago and have been loving it ever since.
Things I particularly love about it are how it is based in generosity, how you can find different tribes of people by interest, how everyone can coexist peacefully (except for political folks for some reason) despite having such different interests (the way the platform penalizes antisocial behavior may have something to do with that), and how the platform actually pays the content creators for the value of their content as decided by those consuming that content.
I do wish it was easier for newbies like me to get more attention to our articles. But then there are those people like you who run contests to help us, which is yet another beautiful thing about Steemit. It really is a platform that inspires us all to bring our best selves forward and play with others from that place, and around ideas we care about. Wow!
He has done a lot to broaden crypto to the masses, and he offers a lot to the minnow growth once we get here. Glad to see you are here because of efforts he made!
Your comment made me smile. It's nice to hear mutual appreciation flowing toward someone.
