RE: Red Rewards Comment Challenge! Earn SBD and votes for your comments!

And it’s true comments can be powerful. A great comment can land you on the radar of a popular blogger – the kind of super-connected influencer who can accelerate your success.
It sounds so simple.
The only problem?
You aren’t sure what a great comment looks like.
Is it a comment that shovels heaps of praise onto the author? Or one that argues a persuasive alternative view?..

You're right about comments. Since I'm a minnow, at this point I'm making more with comments that with my own posts. And I'm not talking only about SBD, but also followers and friends.

Commenting is the best way to connect to people and if you leave thoughtful opinions, it's likely that they will check out your blog. I try to leave my honest opinion about them, not necessarily full of praise like you say, but I try to give everyone the credit they deserve. We all need more positivity and kind words.

It's all about the 3 C's:

  • Create (good content)
  • Comment (often)
  • Curate (well)

Ok, thanks..

I've had left comments with constructive criticism about what I disliked about the author's post and gotten praise from the author for it. The difference is is being constructive rather than destructive. Comment spammers leaving crap comments like "Good job" don't really add much, and becomes obvious it's a comment left for commenting sake as opposed to having consumed the content they're commenting on.

So I'd say it's a little variable, but mostly so long as you're sincere and honest in your comment and you've actually read the content in question, it should be fine overall.

" The difference is is being constructive rather than destructive."

It's all about honesty. Both types of responses have their place. Constructive comments help the user getting constructive replies improve and the destructive ones make other readers aware of issues because it will either get flagged which get's it more attention or it will start a long conversation about by other users defending or agreeing.

"This sucks, go fuck yourself with a cactus and die in a chemical fire you worthless fucking fuck!" is destructive. ;) Should've been more clear about the terminology.

Yes, thank you for clarifying! ;p

LOL, yes that I consider just being a dick, lol.

I try to avoid being exact with what I mean with destructive when I talk about it xD because let's face it, I don't want to be mistaken as being a dick and taken out of context by someone too tired to convey the meaning of what I'm saying in their head.

Don't avoid it, that is how you will make the truest connections and like minded people. People want real.

Point taken and granted.

You seem to be quite right about a great comment promoting an individual
