On Thursday morning the carpenter realized we’d never gone to select a grout for the laundry room floor. There was a tile place he liked here in town and he said it opened at 8AM.
I left the garden work, got a little cleaned up, and we headed over. Nope, it opened at 8:30. So we went back home. In an effort to remain sort of clean, I tried to thumbtack the shelf paper to the top shelf in the pantry. But that shelf was masonite and the thumbtacks would not go in. I had to tap a pilot hole to get each one in.
8:30 finally came and we headed back out. The carpenter pulled out a gray sample, but it didn’t much match the tones of the tile we’d brought. I found one, the top sample above, that matched exactly. They didn’t have it in stock. We stopped at the building supply, but they didn’t either. So we went back home.
I looked it up on the Lowes site and they didn’t have it in stock. So we went back to the tile store to select another. It was 9:30 by now. The sales person selected one called Walnut, the lower one above. They had 1 bag of grout in stock. We’d need 2 to finish. We bought the one as it would get the carpenter started and he could at least get the area the plumbers would be working in finished.
It was 10AM by the time we got done. He got started on the grout and in between he’d taken the utility sink I’d bought 18 months ago out of the box.
I’d mentioned I’d forgotten to get a faucet for the sink. But once he’d unpacked it he found a nice faucet with a sprayer in the box. One less thing I have to deal with.
On Friday the plumbers aren’t coming, nor on Monday. We are to be rescheduled for sometime next week. The carpenter has brought in his helper to get the porcelain sink out of the Tonka garage. Then the helper will put up what shelves he can in the clean room, move the frame out, and take down the sheetrock. It will be ready for whenever the plumbers come.
The carpenter will continue to lay the floor in the laundry.
