THE GARY VEE WAY

Gary Vee might not be the most loved celebrity in the crypto community but he is one of my favourite entrepreneurs/podcasters. I will admit, his message(s) is redundant--in some way. I know what to expect when listening to a Gary Vee podcast but the funny thing is that he is usually right. For instance, his last week’s might be about putting yourself out there by creating more content for your business, and he might double down on the same thing the following week and it would still be relevant because often than not you haven’t followed through with his advice.

Most times we don’t need new ideas, we only need to implement old ones. This is why I find Gary’s message refreshing. It isn't something out of the box, but rather a simple clear instruction on how to build your business or idea. The thing about hearing something repeatedly is that you either become encouraged to try it–at least once, or you become repulsed by the message, and I believe anyone who genuinely wants to change their life would choose the former.

CONTENT IS KING

As much as I would want to admit that I always wanted to be a writer of some sort, I never believed it would be my major source of living for quite some time. Even to date, I still feel uncertain about the tag writer or content creator. I do not have any specialised skillset. My blogs are basically opinion pieces. I have been fortunate enough to find a means to monetise them without having to build such a big platform. So basically you can earn a living by just being yourself, which is one of the messages Gary Vee has propagated. There is immense value in your experience/thoughts/conversation.

While driving a few days ago I was having a conversation with a rider who is an event organiser. I shared a few tips on how I think creating content can help his business, which is something I have learnt from Gary Vee. Think about some of the biggest online personalities today (Mr.Beast, Speed, KSI) they’ve all developed and grown physical products off the back of their digital fame.

Almost anything can be monetised and beyond that creating an online brand can open you to a lot of opportunities. For instance, IShowSpeed is a young YouTuber who has taken the footballing world by storm. It is quite ironic because he knows little about the game but due to his eccentric personality and curiosity, he has won the love of the footballing community. His rise to fame completely debunks the myth that you need to know what you are doing to make it in this industry.

When it comes to creating content most people try to do it the right way but there is no right way. I have seen countless times how unconventional creators reach the very top of the content creation game. Consistency and creativity are the only things that matter in this game. Your ability to constantly put yourself out there and try different things gives you a better chance of succeeding in this space, which in turn betters your craft and helps you understand the ecosystem you belong to.

In conclusion, the Gary Vee way is the easy way. It might sound redundant, but when examined closer you realise a lot of people aren't doing these supposed obvious things. There are no secrets.
