The whole point of nCOV restrictions and lockdowns is the "flatten the curve" of infections to prevent the possibility of your health care system being overwhelmed.
It does NOT reduce the overall number of infections but spreads them out over time.
These are Israel's latest figures with number of people in serious condition and on ventilators very flat, with number of new serious case trending downwards.
It all looks good until you realise that Israel has over 4000 ventilators and is thus using only a tiny percentage of its health system's capacity.
Israel has one of the lowest case mortality rates in the world (0.9%) yet one of the harshest lockdowns.
Clearly Bibi has seriously overreacted and caused all sorts of economic and social damage while completely missing the point of flattening the curve.
If you lock things down so much that your health care capacity is seriously under utilized then you just prolong the time that the society has to deal with restrictions and delay herd immunity.

I've been talking about this for a while now.
If you don't let enough people get sick there is no medical reason for lockdown.
These blanket bans on the economy are a farce.
With a very contagious disease, it's not difficult for the infection rate to spiral out of control. Perhaps there could be some easing of restrictions though. My govt has us on lockdown and there's an alert level system we'll use to ease/increase restrictions in relation to health resources vs infections.
Its very contagious but contagious rates in real life are not exponential as many "experts" have wrongly claimed.
Because people's social circles are limited and there is substantial natural immunity, it is only exponential at first, then it slows as it runs out of people in a social circle who have not already got it or are immune.
Natural immunity has been ignored by press but is perhaps as high as 75% - how did Trump and 80% of Diamond Princess not get it?
He/they are immune like many others.
Estimating R values has to include cultural factors too. I think the immunity angle is interesting and worthy of further follow up. But it is new information and leaders can only decide on the information they had a few weeks back.

I hope we find a vaccine soon so we can get back to normal.
Vaccines will take at least 6 months and may not be effective.
Countries just need to go back to normal and accept the virus as just one of the many risks of life.
Its not pleasant but is not particularly lethal and mainly just kills the very old and sick who would die from something soon anyway.
Not worth destroying billions of lives and the world economy over.
I guess ..... as long as it doesn't mutate and start killing young and healthy people.
