I am sure that all of us are greatly concerned about the global conflagration ignited by the Covid-19 crisis.

At the time of writing this article, 1,203,941 people around the world have been infected by Covid-19 with 64,787 deaths worldwide.

Although it is understandable that a crisis of such magnitude will engender a state of panic in most countries, it is also a time for deep reflection.

Covid-19 has shown- without a shadow of doubt- that differences in nationality, race, religion or language are irrelevant when the survival of the human race is at stake.

One of the key lessons from Covid-19: it is high time for humanity to tear down the walls of nationalism, racism and demagoguery which have divided us since the advent of civilisation.

I am sure that most of us are also affected by lockdown measures in our countries to varying degrees.

For most of us, there will be temporary closure of malls, entertainment spots and shops offering non-essential services.

Could this state of affairs be Mother Nature's way of conveying us a message?

Could Mother Nature be telling us we need to eschew ostentatious consumption generated by unbridled capitalism?

Hopefully, the world's leaders learn valuable lessons after the dust settles.
