Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odessa oblasts will join Kherson in the red epidemiological level on the 18th. Kherson has been operating in the red level since the 15th.
Lockdowns are unfortunately the main tool Ukraine has at its disposal this Delta wave as vaccination rates are very low. The economic costs are severe for an already struggling economy, but the health systems are already facing staff to patient ratios that mean quality of care will be harmed.
Virtually all of the ICU admissions and deaths are the unvaccinated and 97% of the hospitalizations.
Notably the lockdown restrictions won't apply if people are vaccinated (Ukraine has vaccine passports), so if there is a silver lining to this I hope the reintroduction of the red levels will encourage more to get vaccinated.
