To be honest, I did not even expect that the film "Cruel Peter", created by Italian filmmakers in the horror genre, will make such an impression on me. As something in the last time horror films are removed quite weak, not able to frighten anyone. But this movie is not the case. Here you can really get scared, and more than once.
Moreover, there is magic in it, and mostly black magic. And the events themselves take place in a far from beautiful place - in the cemetery, located against the background of a dark, dilapidated old mansion. Here are buried the remains of those who died in 1908 during the terrible earthquake residents of the city of Messina. All except the last owners of the mansion-a woman and her 12-year-old son, who disappeared on the eve of the earthquake.
It seems to be an old, forgotten story, preserved in the form of an urban legend about a mother sorceress who is looking for her son in order to reunite with him. But the legend comes to life, becomes a reality, as soon as the archaeologist Norman, who recently lost his wife, arrived in the town with his daughter Liz. The purpose of the move is to change the situation and dig up the old cemetery.. Actually, from this point on, everything started to spin...
The plot, in principle, is quite interesting and enough original. Scenes of summoning the spirits of dead people caused me, if not horror, then fear, definitely. And other events that took place in the place of mass burial of people, and not only there, inspire fear.
In General, the filmmakers - Directors of Christian Bisceglia and Ascanio, Malgarini and operator of Duccio Cimatti managed to create a theme of the film the atmosphere of mystical horror, highlighting her the nice views of the area itself - the island of Sicily, where they were shooting.
Also good here and special effects, of which there are not so many, but they are, in principle, there is not much need. Musical accompaniment is also perfectly combined with plot of film, which develops dynamically and quite unpredictably. Final was something I didn't expect at all.
Only thing that I didn't like very much was performance of actors - Aran Bevan, Zoe Night, Aurora Quattrocchi, Katia Greco and others who played the main roles. They did not always look convincing, sometimes they seemed somehow "lost".
But in General, I liked film. I recommend it to fans of non-rigid horror and mysticism.
