A brief announcement before we get to our featured posts: On July 12, we began paying delegation rewards for Creative Coin delegated to the Fund. You can read the full details in this post.

For the week of July 7 to 14, we found the work of these artists worthy of a 100 percent upvote.

The erotic fiction of @bliss11

"Sweet Ecstasy" is a sensual tale with a poetic closing line. The last line also effectively clarifies what is happening in the story (it's not clearly defined to that point), providing a satisfying ending, at least in terms of plot. The story is well-written, but it's this final bit of craft that earned a @bliss11 a place in The Five.

The GIF storytelling of @marpa

We aren't sure why this artist isn't getting a bit more attention on Hive. "The Solitary" is just a sample of the work she is publishing on a regular basis. It's a heartwarming story illustrated with a delightful series of GIFs.

The drawing of @connor-russo

We especially appreciate that @connor-russo included a full commentary of his work in The Drunken Man in the Window, which tells us how this charcoal sketch was made and its meaning to the artist.

The singing of @najp

This performance by NAJP for Hive Open Mic is a cover of "Luna" by the Mexican band Zoe. It is a sweet song with guitar accompaniment, sung by a lady with a sweet voice.

The poetry of @theartsydiva

We aren't quite sure what to make of "Scorched." It could be a concrete poem, shaped like a woman standing in the shower (the explicit subject of the poem). It is definitely carefully written and constructed, down to the spacing around its punctuation. The photos complement the text and tell us that there is something very serious going on, but we aren't really told what. We don't know what the 'sham fragrance' that the woman washes from her body is, only that it is part of her old self that must be scorched away. This poem is a fine mystery that keeps us coming back to read it.
