An Update on Hypersensitivosaurus - from computer game to novel to children's book

Hyper.jpg

I'm having some difficulty focusing on my creativity lately - due to overthinking - but today I did some scribbling, the result can be seen in the picture above this post.

Just in case you can't read my handwriting in the image, this is what it says, from top to bottom:

Hypersensitivosaurus:

"I'm not sure this is the right place for me."

Old Krok:

"If you're doing what you want in life, the where does not matter".

Old Krok:

"Hey little one, why are shaking like an old guy?"

Hypersensitivosaurus:

"I... I... can't help it.
I'm just hypersensitive."

The picture at the bottom could actually be considered the scene where the two first meet, the start of a lifechanging friendship ( at least, lifechanging for hypersensitivosaurus. Old Krok is way too old to change ).

Going through one of many notebooks, just now, I found the following, that I wrote down two weeks ago:

It all happened one day, when he was drinking at the lake.

"Excuse me..." said an old, wise voice.

The sound startled him.
How could he not have seen that giant crocodile?
He had thought it to be a floating tree trunk.

Sorry if I startled you
It's just that you seem terribly tense. How come?

For a moment he wasn't able to reply.
Instead he started coughing. The water had managed to enter both his nose and his air pipe, and seemed to have missed his throat entirely.

"Are you alright, son?" the old croc continued in a slow, friendly voice.

That first time he didn't manage to reply, but it became the first of many meetings, slowly developing into some kind mutual friendship. The old croc became his teacher, the father he'd never had.

Some Notes on my Creative Process

There is not much of a logic to my creative process, I just take the time and follow my heart. The writing in November was pretty forced, due to it being daily and me going for a 50 thousand word goal, for the very first time in my life.

December was a slow month, where I focused on health and didn't really feel like touching my story.

Late December / early January this year I felt that I should try to distill my story into a children's book and forget the novel for now.

In the last couple of weeks, I have been trying to find a way to do so, but believe me when I say that it's easier said than done.

Only time will tell what's going to happen, but I don't plan to give up on this project. I will do whatever is needed to make this a success and know that there's one thing that I won't do and that is rushing the process.

Who knows, I might start sharing some comics / drawings ( convos between Old Krok and li'l Hyper to keep the creative gears going.

The main thing is that I stay creative and meanwhile I'll do my best to keep you entertained, intrigued and somewhat informed along the way.

Yay I wanna see Cinvent progblogs :D Your drawings are so freaking cute I can't even.

( you ) can't even...

breathe? put it into words? describe it?

I will consider starting Cinvent progblogs.

I guess I'm still stuck in my childhood drawing style, as I more or less stopped drawing in my early teens :>)

"Can't even" indicates a state of speechlessness so yeh pretty much XD

My predilection for mostly correct grammar usually bypasses slang/dialect

Haha that makes sense, my shenanigans are done in a slightly embellished/modified version of my childhood drawing style XD

Aww, sweet Li'l Hyper. I wish you much good energy as you continue on this project. As someone who didn't realize until later on she was hypersensitive and an introvert, I only wish I had seen something like what you are working on as a child to better understand myself! The muse is fickle, but I'm sure given some patience and practice you'll bang out the finished product in due time. :)

Did I even reply to this a year ago. The greatest compliment of them all! I'm still going strong and keep surprising myself.

I hope you're well, Katie!

Big hug!

P.S. Not banging out the process but enjoying the journey ;<)

I can't wait til this is published. I love how my post on hypersensitivity unleashed the amazing characters and story you're developing.
