Someone Is Trying To Crypto Extort The Dood

I'm going through my email today and come across this crypto extortion email. Funny because I rarely open email from addresses I don't recognize. It just so happened though that as I was deleting my emails it stopped on this particular email and I happened to notice a BTC address in it, which mad me stop and read it. Then I seen it came from a .ru address which made me even more curious.

Now the irony of this is that The Dood is as paranoid as they come when it comes to cyber security. All my computers have covers over the cameras since watching the Snowden movie. That's right special agent pervert, I'm hip to you! On top of that I visit the same free porn site I always have for as long as I can remember. (Yes, the shame of it all. The Dood peaks a little porn from time to time)

There are several red flags here for me however.

A) the fact that I visit the same porn site for as long as I can remember. Mainly due to malware, and other nefarious activity. So I've got a trusted site. Doubt highly it came from there.

B) My webcams are all covered. More for privacy from the government than Russian hackers trying to extort BTC from me.

C) My friends and I would laugh our asses off if this really happened. No shame in my game! By all means, post the thing to Pornhub for all I care! LMAO, I can't stop laughing just thinking about it.

I think this is a brilliant scam based on the law of averages. Think about it. I'd guess there aren't many people that don't view the occasional porn. Honestly, I tend to not trust people that claim they've never peaked a little online naughtiness from time to time. Just saying. Most of us do it. (Oh boy, here come the comments. Before you get all high and mighty, know now.... I DON'T CARE.)

Most people have a webcam uncovered, and would be horrified to think that their friends and family would see them chocking the chicken or hiding the pickle while watching whatever turns them on. I can't help but think about the South Park episode where Randy deals with porn addiction. Most people are pretty private about the stuff that gets them hot, I guess for good reason. LOL

So you send out a couple thousand emails to people in hopes that they watched some porn over the last couple days and don't have a covered webcam. You bet on their need for privacy and societies prudish attitude towards sexuality. Or maybe you're hoping to find the right person who's tastes are simply distasteful. Based on all these factors, you're probably going to find a few takers to this scam.

I did a search of the BTC address... Looks like no takers. Unless each person got a personal address. Still, what a load of bollocks!

Well, if you get a video of my fat A55 choking the chicken while watching bukkake gangbang videos (if you don't know what that is, don't search for it!) I guess it wasn't a scam. I'm willing to take my chances.

On a more serious note though, this is exactly why the powers that be hate cryptocurrency. Although, I'm poking fun at all this, this is indeed part of the problem. Crypto extortion is a serious problem. Sad, part is I'm sure a lot of people fall for this!

Love it! Dumb scam! But I bet it's effective

I thought it was brilliant! Not supporting that type of thing, just saying. :)

Lol well I could agree it's brilliant in that they have a new interesting angle but honestly enough shrugged who really is going to Care these days about your porn browsing history?

Worst part is is most people probably knew exactly what you were saying.....

bukkake gangbang videos

With or without tentacles? I mean I wouldn't know anything about that but my FBI agent might. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Good post, Dood!

LMAO! With tentacles of course.. Always! The Dood abides 😆

Paranoia is our best line of defense ;)

Btw, the Dood should use #leofinance as a tag on his posts/post in the LeoFinance community from PeakD so he can earn LEO alongside HIVE rewards. Https://LeoDex.io

I think a certain level of paranoia is healthy. It helps keep us on guard and safe.

I'll add that to my tags. Wasn't sure what that one was for, I've seen a lot of people using it too.

It’s for our community and second-layer token here on Hive. If the side chain sees your post with the tag in it, you’ll earn LEO on top of your normal Hive rewards. It’s a whole rabbit hole that you could go down if you’ve got a spare minute sometime — https://leopedia.io/faq.

I run into u on Twitter all the time too (@ financeleo is ran by me). So feel free to reach out for anything Hive-related :)

I've had these emails too. If they were for real they would include a still from their video to show they mean business. Like all spam they hope that some tiny percentage will fall for it. The Bitcoin aspect would be an obstacle for most though.

This is actually the first one of these I seen. I have a feeling this is the new Nigerian Prince scam email.

Now a screenshot would shock me. Still I've got less shame than money! LMAO send it out. We've been in a bear market, I couldn't afford $1400 even if I cared!

I do feel bad for the people that fall for this, and as far as bitcoin being an obstacle, what bothers me more is that this would be some peoples first experience with bitcoin. Talk about a black eye!

I've had them for a while in various forms. I was getting loads each day for a while, which actually makes them seem even more fake. One of my email addresses has been leaked from some site ages ago, so gets a lot of spam. Spam filters deal with most of them. Just a fact of modern life.

What the hell?

Five stars for trying. Guess a guy has to make a living somehow 😆🤣

Sure seems that way lol 😅

Mark the email as a scam, it'll get added to lists that will automatically filter it before it reaches inboxes.

Just seen this reply. I just ignored it, but that's a good idea.
