Yesterday I talked about Aran Island and today I would like to talk about Ring of Kerry.
Ring of Kerry is a 179 kilometer circular road in county Kerry. This is one of the most scenic route in Ireland and attract a lot of tourist every year. Closest airport is Shanon with direct flights form United States. So it’s very accessible.
There is a lot to see in Ring of Kerry, starting from beaches, lovey drives, trekking, forts, chocolate factory and a mountain with ancient Monastery off the coast in the middle of the sea.
SourceOne need a good few days to cover this as there is a lot to see. There are a lot of options to stay starting from hotels, BnBs, holiday homes and sleeping pods.
There is a small village called Waterville and it’s famous because Charlie Chaplin lives there. There is an annual festival to remember him.
One can travel take a ferry to Skellig Michael - an ancient Monastery. It’s around 45 min ferry. There are two mountains, one have the monastery and other one is not occupied by humans yet. It’s currently occupied by sea birds.
It’s amazing to see 100 thousand birds covering the mountain. From distance it looks like the mountain is wire in colour but when you reach close to the mountain, you will realise that its because of mountain being covered by these birds.
