The Hive-Engine team is proud to release the client side of DACTER. This is a little early as there's still a little tweaking we'd like to do, but we want to get this out and there and finally make account creation on the platform easy.
DACTER is a tool that allows anyone who has claimed Discount Account Creation Tokens to be able to trade them via layer 2 tools. The Hive layer 1 doesn't allow these tokens to be fungible making tools like this a necessity for those that want to create apps and gain users, but don't have the staked Hive Power necessary to onboard all the users they are bringing into the system. Charge whatever you want, and settle for accounts by paying BEE.
Running a Node

Still a work in progress
This is our first release, we've been working on the testnet and seems like we're progressed enough to give this a shot. So, before ripping into us about missing features or imperfect guides please remember it's an Alpha.

Benefit for Hive-Engine token users
This system will allow you to price account creation in whatever currency you want that lives on hive-engine, but Dapp owners will pay on the backend in BEE. If you're a BEE token holder you should be excited because it's giving utility to BEE. If you're selling accounts you can sell them for however much the market will allow while also accepting whatever hive-engine token you want on the front end. If you're a token creator you should try to get the whale accounts and front ends to accept your token for account creation.
We think it's pretty flexible and should make onboarding users easier, which is one of the longest running and worst aspects of Hive. Hopefully this makes it better.

Fantastic development! We need ways to ease the onboarding process and this could be another step in the direction.
This is actully huge! Nice work on constantly advancing hive and it's layer 2 system so much has come out of the work you have done.
This could be a game changer and a potentially big market as people will always have a demand to create accounts, particular big groups like psyber x for example or splinterlands.

You control how you want to take payment for account creations. no payment/hivepay/paypal/other cryptos, anything you want.

It is working absolutely fine. You were probably experiencing some slowdown connecting to Hive-Engine history API.

This has been a problem for along time and hopefully this will make it much easier for apps to onboard in big numbers.
I've been claiming tokens for ages but would be happy to pass them on for free to an app that was bringing in new users.
How do one claim account please?
You need to have about 8k HP and you can claim them in peakd.com wallet page beside your hive power counter.

Owners of Discounted Account Creations Tokens run this to create accounts. For each account creation they get paid. This is not a Hive-Engine node, its a simple HTTP server that communicates with the DACTER core module.
Ahhh so the node runner will earn DACT or any other fee allocated to that transaction?
Node runners will earn 1.6 BEE/account creation at the moment. The amount might change in future depending on price of BEE and other variables.
But that is only if node used is the node you are running correct? Not each node running in the network

Did anything ever come of this project - we have a dire situation with Hive onboarding at the moment. Even the main hiveonboarding website says it is out of free creation tokens. We need a way to donate and trade these urgently. @reazuliqbal / @aggroed - any comment? Thanks
