A Dash of Sult N Papper 04/20/20> I’m burned out… but it is 420

I never thought...

I never thought I would tell you folks what I am about to tell but there isn’t a better than today to do it. I mean, it is 4/20 or 420 or 4_20 so it probably won’t even register with half of you come the morning of 4/21/20. I’ve been keeping a secret but I’ve never been good at that, keeping secrets.

Long before April 20th gained notoriety as the un-official “pot head” day here in the USA I had already packed away the pipes, bongs, papers Hemostats, and container of seeds I had at that time. That was probably the second best thing I ever did for myself.

I have nothing against pot, but I’ve been better off without it. I can’t say exactly when I quit but it was in the middle ‘80’s, actually I do remember now 1986. But that isn’t a secret and that isn’t what I intended to share today.

What I am...

What I am going to tell you are that the Team Up Poker season starts today and I’ve been playing so much poker of late that I am flat burned out on it.

Now, I know that isn’t what my team mates wanted to hear but I have to be honest with them and ya’ll. Too much of good thing can be exactly that; too much.

So the season is a long one too, it runs from now until June 15th, and I sort of felt this coming on, this burn out. So I’ve taken the necessary steps to make sure I don’t let my team mates down so I’ve cloned myself with my own poker double. I’ve been known to create stuff that seems to work really good before so this clone looks like it can be very good as well.

My clone lacks...

My clone lacks a little in personality when compared to the “original” but I think it will get by okay. It might not chat as much as I do at the poker table but that actually is probably a good thing. I get easily distracted when I am chatting because it takes three times or longer to type a simple message with my “hunt & peck” typing skills.

One thing I...

One thing I haven’t done in real long time is run a contest with prizes. So I think I will be announcing another photo contest in the next day or so. I let you know right now it is going to be a single day contest so mark your calendars for 4/26/20.

A couple of years ago I did what the marketing team from Dodge / Mopar should have done decades ago and declared that day “National Hemi Day” in honor of the 426 cubic inch Hemi engine. So get your favorite photos of those old muscle cars that came with that engine in them and have them in the staging lanes. Just like a drag race, the contest will be here and gone before you know it.

I’ll put together some “suggest guidelines” ( rules) but I can tell you right now you will only be able to submit one photo per HIVE account.
From the looks of my HIVE account there will be three prizes $25 / $15 / $10.

Now I wish...

Now I wish I would have kept that $50 HIVE I won in the writing contest a while back instead of sending it back to the sponsor of that contest. I could have doubled the prizes had I done that. I expect I might get one or two entries since I am not going to go out of my way to promote this contest, that way when it flops I can just attribute to my laziness and not my lack of popularity on here.

I need to do some final adjusts on my clone, so I am cutting this short today, he hasn't been very effective so far today.
Until next time,
Sult

You did great today!!! There is no way any of us can play as much as we all did today. we would be dead and buried if we did!!

Thanks. Playing two tables at one time is hard on my little brain, especially when it is different games. You played very well also. It was good to see the turnout of folks to play on opening day. I may have to work on second clone in case the life expectancy on the first one isn't very long. It was built from used parts almost 18 years ago but updated along the way.

You had me going for a second, I thought you were headed in another direction with your post! Lol. Man, I wish I had better pictures of my Dad's '69 Charger R/T. It was the car they brought me home from the hospital in. It had the 440 engine with the six pack carb option. It was canary yellow with flat black stripes and a black vinyl top. Beautiful automobile. My brother and I both have talked about getting one eventually and restoring it. They're doing interesting restomods now with the Charger. I just saw a full carbon Charger on Jay Leno's Garage. It's difficult to call it a Charger though because it was, basically, a carbon fiber Charger body on a modern Hellcat chassis.

I could swear you do have a picture of it, I remember you doing a story about that car and that they brought you home in. The picture was of them holding you and the car in the background.
My memory tells me that, or your story was really great at painting that picture in my mind. You need to dig that post up and check it.
Those people with lots of money can do a lot of exotic things when it comes to car restorations.
Thanks for dropping in, and Aman got the book yesterday, man was he surprised and excited. Thanks.
Sult

You have a good memory! I'll have to dig into my camera roll. My parents had a few pictures of it but I don't remember an entire profile shot of the car. You're very welcome. I'm glad it arrived and I hope he enjoys it!

It's poker, feel free to lie to us. Don't worry it's a marathon not a sprint. Good thing too because I had a busy day and found little time to play.

Lie? Me? Read my header on my blog, "Here to share the truth, no matter how much it hurts you." Even if you can't play you may want to put the app on your phone and try to at least register for each game and try to play at least one hand at the beginning then sit out if you have too. Those "little points" will add up over time, and could make the difference at the end.

Well, it looks like it was a successful cloning. 2nd place in the overall? Nice place to start.

Conventional wisdom in baseball is that you can't win the title in the first month of the season...but you can damn sure certain lose it. Just sayin'

I believe I'll have a picture for Hemi day. Though the oldest hemi I ever owned was a 392 Hemi in a '57 Imperial. I've got a dandy for the competition this year and by next year I'll make sure I have another.

So you found your way over to the poker room, now that's a start. Get signed up is the next step.
The clone did pretty well, but I have some more work to do on it.

You are right about the winning and losing of championships. It is going to be a long season, but it is important to start strong and finish stronger at the end.

I can't wait to see your photo, I guessing it will be a drag car for sure. Maybe even one you wrenched on back in the day.

Take care and thanks for the support!
Sult

Hmmm. What's a Hemi? :)

!tip

Hemi is an engine that Dodge and Chrysler made back in the '60's & '70's that had 426 cubic inches of displacement. (size). So 04/26 should be "National Hemi Day" but the marketing dept of Dodge isn't smart enough to proclaim it, so I did last year and in honor of it this year I will sponsor a photo contest featuring photos of those old cars with Hemi engines.
Come back on 04/26, there should be at least a couple of photos I would hope.
Thanks for the tip and support, very much appreciated.
