Took the 97' white Jeep on a day trip to the Big Apple NYC last Saturday to see a loved one... I live in Manorville 70 miles east of the city..
It's about an hour and a half drive with little traffic.. and that's what it took me to reach the Chelsea section of Manhattan...
We hadn't seen one another since before the virus was dropped on us... City took a big hit from the virus which put a lot of restrictions on the inhabitants.. but things are easing up..
We opted to take the Jeep down to the Battery just to get out, walk around and take in the sights...
If you never drove in Manhattan it has the potential to destroy a perfectly good nervous system.. Today was calm being a Saturday... There have been times when it would take you 15 minutes to go 3 blocks...
34th street & Sixth Avenue
By going downtown to the tip of Manhattan at the Battery you can get some relief from all the buildings, asphalt and concrete.
There is a nice park down there, beautifully landscaped with views to match...
The orange boat is the Staten Island ferry coming in to dock at the Battery.
View looking back into lower Manhattan at the waters edge...
One world trade center ...building completed in 2014, 1,776 ft (541.3 m)high, 94 floors, plus 5 underground...
In the heart of the park is Castle Clinton... Old fort built in 1811 at the time of the war of 1812 with the British...
Mostly round and originally built on an island off the tip of Manhattan, with a cause-way to it.. Long since back-filled an part of the main island...
Was a pleasant few hours we spent there.. then back to the apartment to get reacquainted until returning to Manorville...
I really enjoyed the trip to the city with you. I love learning about it as I have never been there except to fly into the airport.
Worked there in the 5 boroughs for 38 years.. That's why I live in the country.. Just visiting is nuts.. Great place getting material for the Hive though...
Driving in NYC great way to relieve constipation..
I can not even imagine, nor would I want to experience it. I like things a bit quieter and a lot more organized.

Parts of Brooklyn use to look like that and worse.. NYC has so many beautiful gentrified areas.. These days.. but commrade de Blasio is trying hard to change that..
I know the feeling comrade!
Very nice view by the river.
Thanks 😊
