Let's dispense with "There oughta be a law" and start advocating smaller government.

It's worth bringing up that the disgusting thing about Breonna Taylor's death was that she wasn't killed due to anything illegal happening.

Yes, there was some potentially illegal activity performed by one of the cops; but, she'd still be dead regardless of that.

Policing needs to be better without a doubt; but, if you believe in democracy in no ambiguous or qualified terms, her blood is on your hands. If you want the state to have more power, you're culpable. If your first reaction to every human failing is to try to pass a new law, you're a part of the system that killed an innocent woman. Most of the people who were screaming "Say her name!" at Rand Paul are much more responsible for her death than Paul is.

If you want to see fewer needless deaths like that, you shrink government as much as you can, you end all laws regarding victimless crimes, you allow every adult of sound mind to do what he or she will with his or her body, you end no-knock raids, you end public-sector unions, you stop saying "There oughta be a law."

Stop focusing on the low-hanging fruit and start hacking at the roots.
