Downs and Ups of Living in Winter Time

in #depression3 years ago

Hello, hivers! Welcome to my page!

As you may, or may not have noticed, I missed a couple of my weekly posts this last week. The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a struggle for me on a mental level.

Winter is the time of year that I struggle the most with my clinical depression. I'm better at dealing with it than I used to be, but it still sneaks up on me at times. Once it hits, I just have to work my way out of it to a more level mood. When I'm down in the depths, I don't usually have the mental energy to do much more than the basic things that a person does, like eating. My appetite suffers but I try to deal with that because not eating really doesn't help me. I tend to be more prone to wanting to take a nap instead of doing anything.

I've been slowly coming out of this latest funk, so I have a bit more ambition right now. I'm trying to get back into practicing my music, because I've been neglecting it lately. I've also been trying to work on some of my other hobby projects, it's starting to get my interest again. This may not be my last mood crash for this winter, but I'll get through it like I always do.

I know that winter is far from over here where I live, but it's closer now than it was a month ago anyway. We usually don't start getting mild weather here until March, and then just a day here and there. It will be at least the middle of April before we see the weather consistently starting to get a bit warmer.

One thing I've noticed is that the hive price is finally starting to move in a generally positive direction.

I am not sad to see this happen, I must say. It's good for the platform, and it's been a long wait for those of us who were on steem when the price crashed a few years ago. I've been on this platform since May of 2017, so I've seen a couple of price ups and downs...and it's been a long down period.

Of course, the low price did have one advantage for those of us who believed in the platform. It was a good time to invest in more tokens. I've never had the extra fiat to be able to actually buy more than a small amount of tokens, but I kept on plugging away with trying to post with at least some consistency.

I will admit that I almost quit during the hostile takeover of the blockchain that led to the creation of the Hive platform. Once Hive showed up, I started posting again. Because of deciding not to quit, and to keep on posting, I'm now approaching 8500 hive power. I still have a ways to go to get to 10k HP, but I'm slowly getting there.
In the greater scheme of things on hive, 10k HP isn't really all that much, considering that some people can buy in at that level, but for me it's quite an accomplishment.

One of the things that I struggle with in the winter is coming up with good content to post on my page. During the gardening season, it's easier for me, I have a lot of garden related things to write about. In the winter, I just have my hobbies, and my depression.

One more thing to talk about before I end this post...
I had not been thinking about my other tokens on hive engine, I was basically just ignoring them for a while. Recently, I read several posts about things that are happening on that part of the crypto sphere. When I read about Tribaldex, I went over there and did some rearranging of my tokens. As it turned out, I had a lot of some tokens and a few of some others. I shuffled a few around and did a bit of trading. I also bought a Leo miner, it seemed like a good idea at the time, and it may still be a good idea. I have quite a bit of Palcoin and Creativecoin staked, as well as some that I haven't staked. My weedcoin hasn't been increasing because I haven't been posting any of that content, but I'm still sitting on my staked weedcoin. I have hardly any Leo because I don't post crypto related posts, I know next to nothing about finance and investing. For some reason, I do have some STEM coins, another category that I almost never post in.

Well, that's all I have for this post, thanks for stopping by to check it out!

Hang in there Amber. The winter never lasts forever... even the ice age thawed eventually! 😃

Yeah, the depression does ease up after a time. Late winter is usually the worst time of year for me...

I always like reading your stuff and all the projects you have going on! I'm surprised to hear that you are stuck in the mud cause normally you motivate me to get off my ass and do something lol. Can't wait to see how the camper turns out and the first trip documented. Keeep your chin up, Chad Kroeger didn't see his shadow this year so there are only 3 more weeks of winter!

LOL, thanks for the comment!
I'm hoping to actually use the camper this year for a few trips.
