Today I would like to tell you about a present I got for Christmas last year. My girlfriend gave me two tickets for a concert. But not just any concert.
They were tickets for the "The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and The Rings of Power - The Concert" in the Saarlandhalle. 🥰
She had asked me beforehand whether something like this would be an option for me. As always, I was a bit sceptical, because I always fear at such events that freeloaders will jump on the bandwagon of success of a production, but then only deliver mediocre work.
But because it's hard to give me something as a gift and because I'm a big fan of Tolkien's works, I told her that I would be happy to receive tickets for such a concert.
When I received the tickets as a gift, I had already completely forgotten the conversation. But I was actually pleased. After all, we would be spending an evening together, and that's what matters 😊.
The concert
On 28 December the time had come. While the big farewell party of 7vsWild with Knossi & Co was taking place in the A8, the Saarlandhalle opened its doors for the guests of the concert.
As star guest, William Kircher was to lead through the programme. Until now, I had not heard of him, although he impersonated Bifur in the Hobbit trilogy. In front of the concert hall we could buy a programme booklet and tickets for autographs and pictures with William Kircher. We decided to buy the programme. As a souvenir of the evening.
I estimate that there were about 1200 people in the audience. Unfortunately, the hall was not sold out. My friend had bought us tickets in the third row. Very close to the stage. We had a perfect view of the musicians and the conductor.
Then the show started. The orchestra entered the stage and William Kircher followed. He greeted us with great enthusiasm and introduced himself. Then came the first song, the National Anthem of Mordor. After each song Bifur jumped back on stage and told anecdotes from the set, from Peter Jackson, Ian Mckellen & Co. He was clearly enjoying himself and it was a pleasure to listen to him. In each of his performances, he finally leads to the exact point of the story to which the following song belonged.
But not only William Kircher had fun at work, the orchestra visibly enjoyed themselves as well. You could see how much the musicians enjoyed listening to each other. The atmosphere on stage seemed very pleasant.
During the concert, illustrations and animations from Lord of the Rings & Co were shown on three large screens above the orchestra. However, these were not film excerpts but own creations which, in my opinion, date back to the time before the current film adaptation. I thought it was all very well done.
In addition to these images, Bifur, the musicians and the conductor were also shown on the screens in real time. In some cases they were superimposed on the illustrations. The appropriate lighting for the music and mood rounded off what was happening on stage.
For certain songs, there were female singers in addition to the choir, who took turns depending on the song. Unfortunately, the names have slipped my mind... But both had unique, powerful and impressive voices. I have never experienced anything like that live. Phenomenal. Simply beautiful!
On the sidelines of the concert, the Kings Pipers also took part, heating up the atmosphere at the break and supporting the lonely dwarf Bifur sonorously with their deep voices during the song Misty Mountains.
In between, by the way, there were also three short video speeches by Christopher Lee, who had originally initiated this project. I admire this person.....
Overall, it was a wonderful event. I think that might even be the best Christmas present I've been given so far. In one year they want to do another performance in Saarland. I hope to get tickets for it again.
PS: The orchestra was partly made up of a national Ukrainian orchestra, The Academic Khmelnitsky Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Therefore, the Ukrainian national anthem was played briefly at the end of the event. This may bother some people, but we liked it 💪

Hallo Freunde,
heute möchte ich euch noch von einem Geschenk erzählen, dass ich letztes Jahr zu Weihnachten bekommen habe. Denn meine Freundin hat mir zwei Tickets für ein Konzert geschenkt. Aber nicht für irgendein Konzert.
Es waren Tickets für das "The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and The Rings of Power - The Concert" in der Saarlandhalle. 🥰
Sie hatte mich im Vorfeld schon einmal gefragt, ob sowas für mich in Frage käme. Ich war wie immer etwas skeptisch, weil ich bei solchen Veranstaltungen immer befürchte, dass Trittbrettfahrer auf den Erfolgszug eines Produktion aufspringen, dann aber nur mittelmäßige Arbeit abliefern.
Weil es aber schwer ist, mir etwas zu schenken und weil ich großer Fan von Tolkiens Werken bin, habe ich ihr erklärt, dass ich mich über Karten für so ein Konzert freuen würde.
Als ich die Karten geschenkt bekam, hatte ich das Gespräch schon ganz vergessen. Gefreut habe ich mich aber tatsächlich. Schließlich würden wir einen gemeinsamen Abend verbringen, und darauf kommt es doch an 😊.
Das Konzert
Am 28.12 war es dann soweit. Während im A8 die große Abschiedsparty von 7vsWild mit Knossi & Co stattfand, öffnete die Saarlandhalle ihre Tore für die Gäste des Konzerts.
Als Stargast sollte William Kircher durch das Programm führen. Bisher war mir der Name kein Begriff, obwohl er Bifur in der Hobbit Trilogie verkörperte. Vor dem Konzertsaal konnten wir uns ein Programmheft und Tickets für Autogramme sowie Bilder mit William Kircher kaufen. Wir entschieden und für das Programmheft. Als Andenken an den Abend.
Ich schätze, dass grob 1200 Menschen im Publikum saßen. Der Saal war leider nicht ausverkauft. Meine Freundin hatte uns Karten in der dritten Reihe gekauft. Ganz nah an der Bühne. Wir hatten einen perfekten Blick auf die Musiker und den Dirigenten.
Dann fing die Show auch schon an. Das Orchester betrat die Bühne und William Kircher folgte. Mit voller Begeisterung begrüßte er uns und stellte sich vor. Dann kam auch schon das erste Song, the National Anthem of Mordor. Nach jedem Song sprang Bifur wieder auf die Bühne und erzählte Anekdoten vom Set, von Peter Jackson, Ian Mckellen & Co. Er hatte sichtlich Spaß dabei und es war eine Freude ihm zuzuhören. Bei jedem seiner Auftritte leitet er schließlich genau auf den Punkt der Geschichte hin zu dem der folgende Song gehörte.
Aber nicht nur William Kircher hatte Spaß bei der Arbeit, auch das Orchester hatte sichtlich Freude. Man sah wie gerne sich die Musiker gegenseitig zuhörten. Die Atmosphäre auf der Bühne schien sehr angenehm zu sein.
Auf drei großen Leinwänden über dem Orchester wurden während des Konzerts Illustrationen und Animationen von Herr der Ringe & Co gezeigt. Allerdings waren das keine Filmausschnitte, sondern eigene Kreationen die meiner Meinung nach aus der Zeit vor der aktuellen Verfilmung stammen. Ich fand das alles sehr gelungen.
Neben diesen Bildern wurden auch Bifur, die Musiker und der Dirigent auf den Leinwänden in Echtzeit übertragen. Teilweise wurden sie über die Illustrationen gelegt. Das passende Licht zur Musik und Stimmung rundete das Geschehen auf der Bühne ab.
Für bestimmte Lieder gab es neben dem Chor auch noch Sängerinnen, die sich je nach Lied abgewechselten. Die Namen sind mir leider entfallen... Aber beide hatten einzigartige, kraftvolle und beeindruckende Stimmen. Sowas habe ich live noch nicht erlebt. Phänomenal. Einfach Wunderschön!
Am Rande des Konzerts wirkten auch die Kings Pipers mit, die zur Pause die Stimmung anheizten und beim Lied Misty Mountains den einsamen Zwerg Bifur klangvoll mit ihren tiefen Stimmen unterstützen.
Zwischendrin gab es übrigens auch drei kurze Video-Ansprachen von Christopher Lee, der dieses Projekt ursprünglich initiiert hatte. Ich bewundere diesen Menschen.....
Insgesamt war es eine wunderschöne Veranstaltung. Ich denke, dass sogar das beste Weihnachstgeschenk sein könnte, dass mir bisher gemacht wurde. In einem Jahr wollen sie wieder eine Aufführung im Saarland machen. Ich hoffe, dass ich wieder Karten dafür bekomme.
PS: Das Orchester bestand teilweise aus einem nationalen ukrainische Orchester, dem Das Akademische Chmelnizkij Philharmonische Symphonieorchester. Daher wurde am Ende der Veranstaltung noch kurz die ukrainische Nationalhymne gespielt. Das mag den ein oder anderen stören, aber uns hat es gefallen 💪

Ja, ich habe tatsächlich unterschätzt wie schön das sein kann 😀.
Anscheinend gab es mittags eine Harry Potter Konzert. Das soll, wie ich gehört habe auch sehr beeindruckend gewesen sein
Super Klasse! Ich liebe die Hobbit und Herr der Ringe Teile... sie vermitteln einen tolles Bild der alten Welt und germanischen Mythologie.
