I'm a big believer in Fusion Energy. That is more of a long term bet. I do acknowledge fossil fuel as a necessary thing to carry us through the transition to better forms of energy. You should check out thw work of Alex Epstein.

Thanks a lot for your reply and these 2 links. I've read some short texts from Epstein and have his book on my reading list. I find his arguments conclusive.
Concerning fusion I don't know much, besides the old joke that we'll have it in 20 years - as we did already 20 years ago.
