HIVE Monitor - Analysing transaction statistics and witness earnings

in #dev3 years ago

I recently became a HIVE witness, which I have announced in this post. Currently I am at position 139 and I am producing a block approximately every 24 hours. I was curious if there are more detailed statistics on the earnings of witnesses and discovered the Witness Earnings Weekly Report maintained by @quochuy. I started wondering if there are any "live" statistics about the earnings to bring even more transparency about that. So today I am introducing

HIVE Monitor (https://primersion.com)

a simple tool for analysing witness earnings and besides that for analysing transactions happening on the HIVE blockchain. I will give you a quick tour about the features of the page.

Witness Earnings

This is the main page showing the earnings of witnesses. It shows the most recent statistics either from the last 24 hours or from the last week, which you can choose in the top right.
The first row shows some general statistics, including the total earned HP and the total earned USD, as well as the current median history price.
Below that you can see the actual chart, showing the earnings of every HIVE witness. It shows that the first 20 witnesses are producing most of the blocks and are earning most of the rewards, because of the much higher work load they have to cope with.

Below the chart you can see a list with the exact earnings of all witnesses actively producing new blocks:

It can be filtered using the input, which highlights the witnesses in the chart and only their earnings are shown in the list:

As you can see in the above image, in the last 7 days I produced 6 blocks and earned a total of 7.753 HP, which is about 1.08 USD.

The application also supports mobile displays. The charts themselves are not very expressive on them, but other than that it looks great:

Also you may switch to dark mode on the top right:

Exploring Transactions

The second module of the page is for analysing transactions performed on the HIVE blockchain. You can switch to it on the top right:

This page shows statistics about the transactions of the last 50 blocks. It automatically refreshs every few seconds to show the most recent blocks. On the top you can see the latest block included in the statistics and the total number of performed operations. It also shows how many voting operations, splinterlands operations, hive-engine operations and other operations were performed. Here is a more detailed view of the actual chart:

It was not very suprising to find out, that Splinterlands is responsbile for most of the operations on the HIVE blockchain - most of the time a litle over 50% of all performed operations. Together with voting operations and operations performed by hive-engine, they are performing 85-90% of all operations on the HIVE blockchain. Only 10-15% of the operations are "Others".
Below the chart you can see a list of the 10 most recent blocks:

Future Plans

For the future I am planning on introducing new features and adding more detailed charts. For the witness earnings page:

  • Detailed view for every witness
  • Monthly / Yearly statistics
  • More charts
  • ...

For the transaction statistics:

  • Choose a timeframe for the statistics
  • Include other operations
  • More charts
  • ...

If you have any questions regarding the tool or ideas for cool stuff I could add in the future, feel free to leave a comment.

That's all for now - to try out the tool visit https://primersion.com.

If you like what I am doing please upvote and follow me to stay updated about the project. Also please consider voting for me as a witness. To do so visit https://wallet.hive.blog/~witnesses, find my name towards the bottom of the list and vote or use Hivesigner to vote for me.

Thank you.
More decentralized Hive explorer dapps will be very good on the transparency of the Hive blockchain. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Yes I agree. This app is not yet decentralized, but hopefully it will be in the future!

This is amazing! Thank you for efforts :)

Very good pages ... I hope we see more this pages come up.

Thank you! I hope so too and I am already working on improving the page :)
