Hey everyone, it's been a few days since I last shared a pro card drawing, so I chose one for this occasion. In case you've been living under a rock or haven't seen my previous posts (haha), I'm doing a series dedicated to pro cards, meaning I'm painting them on musical instruments. Today's is a microphone, the Pro 125 TP 17Q. As you can see, it's a nice light blue microphone with a classic design. I'd be happy to show you the step-by-step process of how I drew it. I personally really enjoy making these drawings, and I hope you enjoy them too.
To begin, I used Adobe Illustrator to design the inner frame of the card; this will be our canvas. It turned out like this:
Once I had that ready, I started drawing the microphone inside. First, I drew what would be the microphone's handle. That would be the part where you hold the device or the part used to mount it on a tripod. It's basic to explain, but I like to remind you so you know what I'm talking about. After making the handle, I drew the ball that contains the parts responsible for capturing sound and voice.
With what I had done before, I could start painting, but I like to add some details beforehand so that when I fill in the color, it's easier and, above all, so the details are more visible. For that, I added internal lines to divide the inside of the microphone into sections and guide my painting.
Now, with that done, I could start painting. For the background, I chose purple. I took this color from the inner frame of the original card, and in the drawing, I then painted the frame a dark blue. In other words, I inverted the colors to make it look different from how it appears in the example card. This gives it a new look; that's the goal of this fan art. After doing both things, I painted the card's inner background in various shades of blue, and the microphone last in light blue and gray. I used a spray effect to fill in the audio pickup grilles on the ball so it would look nicer and have more volume.
