Government Never Learns

The entirely predictable, preventable imminent catastrophic NY Power Blackout
............................................................................................................................................................................

  • Note that there is a very strong parallel here with the US mortgage meltdown of several years ago — which led to a world-wide major economic downturn. After the fact, when insiders were interviewed about what happened, they acknowledged that everyone-in-the-know knew that the lending, etc. policies put in place (by lobbyists) were guaranteed to fail.

  • political energy policies — (in NY) are divorced from science or economics and are completely oblivious of the technical consequences.

I'm SO glad I live in Texas.

We have our OWN power grid. It's pretty much self sufficient. When new york shoots itself in the foot, again. It'll bring down the entire eastern part of the United States.

It'll be worse than all of the other natural disasters...combined.

Better invest in Solar Power. Buy some batteries. Get a generator and LOT of fuel.

And some guns and ammo to keep others from taking it away from you.

I'm so glad I live in Texas.

I Live in a third world country, still, it is really interesting to learn this data of the US. I really like your posts

the whole power outage reminds me of the ones in my country, in the last month we have scheduled blackouts of 3-4 hours every day. But most of the time they wipe their asses with the schedule and cut the energy for arbitrary amounts of time more than once a day.

thank you.
remember...widely distributed, parallel and redundant is your friend.

I live in the Missouri Ozarks and have thought about the fragility of the grid for quite some time now, never knew (or would have guessed) we're on the same overall network as the East Coast.

I've always liked the notion of solar. Plenty windy here too. I'm thinking alternative energy could be an even better home investment than I previously realized!

This has been @holsturr, thank you for reading!

Thanks again! 😍💰✨🌷

according to the article things are going critical...in a few months maybe...no more than a couple of years.

Time to build that wood gasifier I've been meaning to get to.

I'm double glad I live in Texas.

and/or a methane digester to supplement solar and wind.
If you have a creek nearby that you can install hydro..that would even be better.

what are the electric rates like there?

Buy some batteries. Get a generator and LOT of fuel.
And some guns and ammo to keep others from taking it away from you.
I'm so glad I live in Texas.

But I bet you have all those things already anyways!

Austin Electric Rates
unfortunately I live in an apartment. If I had some land I certainly would have them...or be working on getting them.

Ever since I bought a generator a decade ago we have not had a significant power outage. It's still in the box.

vaccine

yup that and the event that prompted me to get it took out every weak tree and power line in the area

Chic article. I learned a lot of interesting and cognitive. I'm screwed up with you, I'll be glad to reciprocal subscription))
